    refund

I just recently purchased a film but for some reason i get this error message.

Oops! This movie won't play on your display due to copyright restrictions. It can be played only if both your output and display support HDCP. [#3339]

So far i am not very satisfied with this service and was wondering whether if someone can help me. If not, I will like to get a refund. The film i purchased was enemy at the gates.

You'll receive that message for any of the HD/HDX encodes if the software doesn't detect the HDCP handshake. This message isn't limited to just Vudu since other services will display the same or similar message if it's not detecting a proper HDCP handshake. Once is a while the HDCP handshake will break between my monitor and video card and I have to power of the monitor and recycle the inputs to get it to come back.

Can you explain further what your setup is. What pieces of equipment are you using such as display, receiver (or video card), and whether you're using an HDMI cable; or are you trying to stream from a laptop? Have you been able to successful stream HD content previously from Vudu? Have you been able to successfully stream HD content from other content providers?

      Re: refund

I am using my computer and it is definitely hd compatible. If it is not possible to fix the issue, then i want my money back. A friend actually referred me to the service. I have been able to play hd movies on my computer since i have a blu ray in my system.

        Re: refund

I regularly have issues completing a movie. As i have not been able to see a movie without doing a battery of test. I always get an error from vudu. So i always check my connection and test the download rate, then check xboxlive status page to see the app is running. Because its so annoying to find any kind of usuable answer on the forums, and of course trying to get support is not at all easy, i have waited until now to voice my complaints. I have concluded that vudu services are not worth paying for. I am excited about what it could be, but sad about what experience i have had. I have had the service for at least a year on my xbox 360 and its almost good. But as I have not completed any of the awesome movies i have purchased in hdx, I would like a refund. The experience is less than desirable and one that i regret. The promise of what the service offers is a broken one, at least to this consumer. My cable speeds are 20-30mbps, its time warner cable. All the other apps on the xbox i use, like netflix, hulu plus, amazon prime all work without issues. To bad the movies on those i have seen already. The concept of purchasing the movie is to see it. I can't.

If you've noticed I'm also a member just like you and I'm trying to help you solve the issue. It sounds like the issue is at your end, and most likely solvable, but you haven't provided any info for anyone to be able to help you troubleshoot and determine the underlying root cause.
          • What movies are you having trouble with?
          • What are the make and models of the equipment you're using? You mentioned it was a computer but is it a desktop or laptop?
          • What graphics card are you using?
          • Do you have any software such as AnyDVD HD or DVDFab Passkey installed? If so try disabling those options prior to trying to stream the movie.
          • Do you have this same issue when trying to stream other HDX movies on Vudu?

You can test other free HDX streams in this collection:

          http://www.vudu.com/movies/#featured...ree-Collection

I have no issue streaming HDX movies on my HD compatible desktop most of the time. And when I do get that message it's usually due to a broken HDCP handshake between my video card and monitor which I can easily fix.

            Re: refund

I am able to stream movies from other websites like netflix, but for some reason it is this service that i am having trouble with. I have a desktop computer which is HD compatible, but i have absolutely no time for this. If anything i will like a refund for the movie that i purchased recently. I tried calling the customer service hotline and there is no one that takes my call. My computer is a HP pavilion p6112p. For goodness sakes just provide me a refund and i will stick only to standard definition movies.

              Archie,

Typically VUDU streams at a much higher bit rate than Netflix. As for your refund, it looks like it's already been applied to your account.

                Re: refund

Sorry to hear that Archie but no one, including Vudu, can help you to resolve this issue unless you're willing to help yourself. But it sounds like Vudu has refunded you for the cost of the movie.

FWIW, according to the Desktop model number that you provided, the only thing that I can tell from the specs is that the motherboard doesn't come with a HDMI port (VGA) only. It also sounds like you added a Blu-ray drive at some point so you must have added a different video card as well.

HP Pavilion p6112p Desktop PC Product Specifications

So unless you're willing to provide the previous requested information you're stuck where you're currently at. No one will magically know what the problem is without knowing more information about your specific situation.

                  Re: refund

My experience with both PC Blu-ray players and online HD streaming is that HDCP protected movies DO NOT play over VGA cables. VGA is an analog format that does not allow the HDCP to do it's thing. Older DVI monitors and graphics adapters may also not support HDCP, although DVI is simply HDMI sans the audio stream. You must have an HDMI (some DVI also supports HDCP) connection to an HDCP compliant monitor/TV to stream copy protected movies. If you have HDMI cable connected to a compliant monitor, then you have a legitimate grip, albeit still a problem on your end to be worked out. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime as well. This is the easiest site to stream from with the best quality of the bunch. If you like streaming HD movies, you are only hurting yourself by just getting a refund and not dealing with the issue (IMHO).

                    Daniel H.,

Can you please apply this refund to my account as well? I have received this exact error. I purchased the HD version of a TV show expecting that it would work without any issue. I have never seen this error before when playing other HD videos including Netflix and YouTube.
