New to forums. I've been using VUDU for several months now, mostly through an app installed on my TV. No, VUDU didn't hire me to post this!
I figured I'd share my happy-customer experiences, since, like everyone, I usually come to forums with a technical problem or a complaint.
Things I love about VUDU:
Things I'm not so fond of:
Still no Android support? Not all of us are acolytes of the Church of Apple. I'll be putting Linux on my miniPC-to-be to get around this for the moment.
I can't think of anything else I'm unhappy with, and that's something for me.
Keep up the good work, guys; it is much appreciated.

Things I love about VUDU:
- You can pay with a Visa or AMEX gift card. Try doing that with Netflix or Hulu Plus. You can't even get a gift-card-based GIFT CERTIFICATE through Netflix to try to meet them on their own terms. If I can't pay with a gift card, it's a deal-breaker for me.
- Diverse selection. Another make-or-break item for me. I just watched Kenneth Lonergan's "Margaret" this morning and I have a good chunk of the Criterion Collection waiting for me in my wish list. And I'm all caught up now on "Breaking Bad" in glorious HDX, just in time for the season premiere. The selection puts both Amazon VOD and Verizon to shame.
- Streaming quality. Beats the crap out of both Amazon and Verizon. Amazon isn't even in the same league, while Verizon VOD, even though it looks and sounds good, often stutters even with a wired connection; VUDU rarely does even on HDX.
- HDX.
- Very few technical issues. There were some buffering problems as I was watching something in the wee hours the other day, but eventually they went away. I don't see this issue very often.
- VUDU on Ubuntu 12.04 wasn't working, so I Googled "VUDU Linux." One of the first links was to the tech support forums on this domain, and the offered solution worked like a charm. Now I'm off to set myself up with a mini-PC that can run Linux so I can take VUDU on the road with me!
- Someone with UX knowledge clearly had a lot of input into the UIs on both the Web and TV (Droid/Linux?) apps. The Amazon app UI on my TV is, frankly, shameful. Not so the VUDU app, which is generally an intuitive pleasure to use. As a tech writer with some UX experience, I can say that it is really nice to see that some companies still care about UX.
