Re: Is Disney coming out with a bunch more Digital Copy Plus codes
Hmmmm. I hope this is just another attempt to not let the cat out of the bag too early and not a sign that we will have to wait even longer for Vudu to become a DMA partner.

Originally posted by Cranston37 View PostDisney bought the series but Fox retained the home video rights for the 6 films already produced until May 2020 because of it's previous contract with LucasFilm.
"Despite The Walt Disney Company's 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm Ltd. and the release rights to all future Star Wars films, Fox still retrains original distribution rights to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope "in perpetuity" in all media worldwide. Fox also retains theatrical, nontheatrical, and home video rights worldwide for the franchise's five subsequent films through May 2020, at which time ownership will transfer to Disney. This complex relationship between Fox and Disney, particularly in regards to Fox's perpetual rights to Episode IV, creates an obstacle for any future boxed set comprising all nine films."
I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of a broader negotiating tactic by Disney, along with cancelling the Fantastic Four comics so they won't support Fox's movie reboot. Don't be surprised if they end up with a deal that lets Disney release all six films on DMA next year, with Ep IV shifting to Disney in 2020 along with the home-video rights to the other five films. Maybe in exchange for keeping the Fox logo & fanfare on future Disney-produced Star Wars episodes (a la the Paramount logo on The Avengers & Iron Man 3).

Back shortly after DMA started they had a customer survey and on it they specifically asked about interest in movies from other studios, so they have been thinking about a licensing scenario for a while (not necessarily Star Wars I suppose).

...was kinda hoping it would be a surprise today. I had $100 in reserve in case, but when I saw it not around, I just spent it on Maleficent, Mr. Peabody, and book #4 of Legend of Korra. Maybe around black friday though.

Not a big deal of course, just a bit of a negative feeling.I'm not gonna complain because I already own Wreck-It Ralph, just like I already owned The Incredibles when DMA launched.
Actually, there's a small consolation prize for those of us who already had Disney movies in Google Play: Once you link Google Play to DMA, you get 150 Disney Movie Rewards points for every Disney movie in your Google Play library pre-integration -- even if, as in my case, they were all redeemed from Digital Copy Plus codes. (I started out with Vudu on DC+, but switched to Google Play because it plays in HD on my Nook HD. Edit: DMA points were not awarded for prior DC redemptions in iTunes when DMA launched.) I hope they do the same once Vudu joins DMA.

Re: Is Disney coming out with a bunch more Digital Copy Plus codes
It's back up now (as of midnight ET). For now, the announcement is Google Play integration + the DMA Android app.
No mention of Vudu for now, but there's still time. It could be a separate press release later today, especially since Vudu runs on PT; it could also be as late as 12/9. However, I now think it'll be 11/18 so Vudu will get in on digital exclusivity for GotG (and Frozen Sing-Along Edition in HD).
