The Fandango at Home Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Fandango at Home experience. Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc).     most disney movies were offered on vudu and then started disappearing because I had them on my wish list like snow white and bambi this was like 2 years ago, probably in preparations to DMA

    Ok but they(Disney) have trained us to do that already. We have bought regular VHS then Walt Disney Classics VHS then Regular DVD then We bought Gold and Platinum and diamond dvd's and Blurays so why would they not expect us to not buy them again digitally and i would guess buy them again digitally in 4k if and when they remaster them

    I have to agree with Natman. I don't think we should have to pay $20 for the digital copy especially when we already paid to get the disc. We would have to buy it twice and pay a lot both times. I will only pay for my digital copy if it is below $10.00 if I already have the BD.

    I don't have much issue with price. I think $20 is fair for a lot of Disney's content, especially classics like the film you mentioned.

    That part was mainly about the actual labor to create the file, send it through testing, and hand it over to VUDU versus the costs associated with pressing discs, packaging, distribution, etc. of physical media.

    Things like royalties, advertising, etc. are costs that will, as you said, be incurred regardless of medium.

    Yep - it looks like Bambi was not released with Digital Copy. Checkout the Diamond Edition Wiki here. The key blurb being this one:

    Disney expects to release all its Diamond titles by 2016. All these movies (except for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Bambi) are released as Digital Downloads (e.g. iTunes, Disney Digital, Amazon Instant Video).

    Drives sales for who though? I would argue Disney is missing sales because of their "vault" strategy. Let's be honest, this is the internet. Gone are the days when if you missed a release at your local shop, you didn't have another chance until the next release. I bought the Lion King blu-ray from Amazon (third party seller) over two years after it was vaulted. Who missed the sale? Disney, that's who.

    Furthermore, in the digital world, trying to create artificial demand is a lost cause. If someone wants a digital copy of the Lion King, and Disney won't sell it, there are plenty of ways to otherwise, ahem, acquire it.

    Like I said, if they want to limit physical releases, that makes good business sense because releasing physical media has significant costs and you don't want to incur that cost unless it's necessary. However, the model just doesn't fit digital distribution. How much does it really cost them to provide digital files to providers like VUDU? Pennies most likely.

    yes snow white is the only Diamond Bluray without a Digital Copy

    Ok so as far as vaulted titles re-released in the last 7-8 years, Snow White is the only title that was never available with a DMA-compatible digital copy? I know 101 Dalmatians comes out in February; then Aladdin in October; then Pinocchio the following February (I believe Pinocchio was originally slated for February 2015 but last year it got bumped for 101 Dalmatians) . . .

    Bambi is in DMA if you had it before it went into the vault Snow White is not available nor is Aladin 101 Dalmations comes out in two weeks and Aladin should be available sometime later this year
