    Movie lengths to long?

I was excited to see the "Man of Steel" movie and then read it was 2hrs and 28 mins long. As I've gotten older I don't care much to sit more than 1hr and 40 mins to 2 hours to watch one movie.

One reason I've been so disappointed in superhero movies is their constant need to tell an origin story for 50% of the film then cram in the action and romance in the remaining 50%. Why can't there be mystery to our hero. Or if you want backstory, check out the comic book; don't throw it in every movie and remake.

    What do y'all think?

I agree. This is one of the main reasons I don't go to a theater to watch movies anymore. I get too antsy after an hour and a half. If I'm at home, I can hit pause and take a break from the movie if I want to.

Re: Movie lengths to long? Personal Problem?

Sorry, but Movie Studios don't make Superhero movies for an older audience. The main demographic for Superhero movies is something like 14 to 35. That demographic is not gonna catch up on a Comic series that started in 1938 nor did they grow up watching George Reeves as Superman on a Black & White 15" TV?

The beauty of getting the movie on disc or VUDU for the older demographic is the fact that you can watch part of the movie, stop it, and restart it at your leisure. You don't have to watch the 2 hour 28 minute Superman in one seating. Enjoy!

That is a good point. Though I would like to see history explained throughout the movie rather than forced in the first part of the movie. For example; Iron Man spends a good portion of the movie showing how he got where he is and making the armor. It was fun, though why can't we start past that and the answers be given in dialog? 5 minute dialog or 15 to 30 minutes to show it?

Remember Superman with Christopher Reeves; the film shows the destruction of Krypton and him coming to earth and so on. Later when interviewed by Lois, he explains where he came from and what happened to his home world. Personally, I would like for movies to forgo showing us and just get to it.

Anywho, I must be old for my age. lol just hit 35.

Well I guess you didn't watch George Reeves as Superman on a black & white 15" TV like many of us.
