    Schwack's Movie Request

I joinged Vudu a few weeks ago and I was under the impression that most of the new movies will show up after a few days (if not the day of) of movie releases! Since this isn't the case, I would like to rent:

    Role Models
    Let The Right One In
    Elegy

    Re: Schwack's Movie Request

Elegy and Role Models are available for sale but not rental yet. VUDU can't offer them for rental until the studios release them for VOD rental, meaning none of the VOD services (iTunes, for instance) has it for rental yet. Usually a few weeks after being available for purchase.

Let the Right One In should be available for rent and purchase next week.

Great movie by the way. It's my favorite movie of 2009 so far.

Great news. Does this mean Donkey Punch, Timecrimes and Big Man Japan are also due to be added?

Thanks John A for the update. Yeah, I read about Let The Right One in a while back and now, near its release date, I've read more and more praise about the film. It is supposedly "beautifully filmed" so I'm anxious to see it in Vudu's superior format.

          Thanks again.

You won't be disappointed. It'll look fantastic in HDX.

                  Re: Schwack's Movie Request

Let The Right Ones In is a great film. The pacing and atmosphere naturally owe a lot to modern European cinema, which made it a very welcome diversion from the sub par horror output that's been coming from Hollywood in the last few years.

There was a lot of film grain in the print I saw, especially in the many darkly lit scenes. I expect the HDX encode to faithfully reproduce the original print.

By the way John, this was technically a 2008 release (it was doing the festival rounds in Austin as far back as last September), but then considering it's beening called by some the best vampire film ever made, who's counting!

Yeah, I know it was originally released in 2008 but I don't think it got a US studio license until 2009. I saw it in one of the indie theaters out here in January when it first opened.

Well, the movie lived up to the hype about the visuals. Wow. I'm crediting the HDX quality but the night scenes with the snow, ice, etc..looked awesome!!!!!

Some of my friends will put this movie into their Netflix queue even though I'm telling them to get Vudu.

So my next movie request will be: MONGOL. It came out in 2007 and received a lot of praise with it's art directions and battle scenes. I would image it would be awesome, as well, in HDX!!.

I can see why people get addicted to Vudu!..

"Mongol" was on VUDU in HD/HDX when it first came out on DVD/Blu-Ray. It must be blacked out -- check HBO/Starz/Showtime/etc. listings as one of those probably has it.

Well unless I'm doing it wrong, I've searched for MONGOL by typing in the name of the movie, the director's name, the star's name...nothing.

Mongol was available until early January on Vudu. I know because I bought vudu, wanted to watch it, and it disappeared from my wish list. I ended up netflixing it - it was a decent movie.
