    Hayao Miyazaki Films

I am in no way shape or form a fan of anime. Actually, I'd say that I pretty much despise anime as a whole, but I can't get enough of films by Hayao Miyazaki. The movies that I have watched are Howl's Moving Castle (nominated acadamy award), Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away (winner of an acadamy award), and My Neighbor Totoro - all excellent movies. I was drawn to these after flipping through the channels and seeing Howl's Moving Castle on PBS. These are truely quality movies that set the bar for animated features, which few others have met.

Here are a list of all movies by this director:
    • The Castle of Cagliostro
    • Nausica? of the Valley of the Wind
    • Laputa: Castle in the Sky
    • My Neighbor Totoro
    • Kiki's Delivery Service
    • Porco Rosso
    • Princess Mononoke
    • Spirited Away
    • Howl's Moving Castle
    • Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea
Has anyone seen or heard of these movies? Better yet, how would you rate them and do you think they should be available to rent/buy? Seriously, don't bump them unless you've watched them. I know I would have if I haven't seen them myself.

I think Nausicaa is one of my favorite anime titles... and of those listed you haven't seen, Kiki's Delivery Service and Porco Rosso are also excellent (the others may be but I haven't seem them yet)

Most seem distributed in the US by Disney - we can always request but it's up to them (they may be holding on to do future big-budget redubbed US theatrical releases...)

I also recommend Whisper of the Heart (Miyazaki screenplay), The Cat Returns (features a recurring character from Whisper) and The Secret World of Arrietty. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (anime version) is also awesome if you like Miyazaki. Quality story!
