I think the panic button should pop up an Excel Spread Sheet. I've used that one millions of times when I had a real job!!

I haven't looked at the listings yet, but it sounds like Debbie doesn't do Dallas yet. And I haven't found the Green Door yet either.

Caligola would be one that I might even watch.

The discussions of movie titles is going to be kept at a minimum. Please no more. Please see the posting guidelines. No movie requests in her for adult content. There's an e-mail address for those. We will remove such requests.

My bad. I did read the posting guidelines this morning, but missed that, unless it was changed since then.

I guess I don't get it though, if it's a service VUDU provides. But it will not happen again on my watch.

Hodge, I know you know the limits of good taste. Others may not. So Vudu has put in place some specific rules and requirements of discussions on the forums.

Given the nature of some adult titles and what the content was about, you can see how quickly the conversation could get rather vulgar. There's a lot of people that read these forums that might be offended by such discussion. The goal is to have a product that appeals to as wide an audience as possible. Everyone wants mainstream movies. Everyone does not want adult content.

So the idea of these forums is to keep the discussions at a sane level and discuss the service features and any questions, problems, issues, suggestions, etc. Discussion of specific content is not allowed. Discussions on actors, actresses, studios, etc. is going to be very closely monitored and moderated.

Thanks for keeping this generally above the waistline!

I understand what you're saying and agree with the concept. But I think the rules should possibly be refined to limit the discussion to none XXX content.

In the case of Caligula, although it's definitely an adult movie (possibly X Rated), it's been shown several times (probably in edited format) on TV and has big stars like Malcolm McDowell and Peter O'Toole.

So it's not something your going to seen on prime time tv, but perhaps something like HBO or nowdays after hours tv. Here's a link to a description of the movie.

              http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080491/synopsis

So I guess a question would be if I had requested Caligula in a different thread would anyone have objected? And if I would have requested a movie on this thread that has questionable sexual values, like Broke Back Mountain, would it have been removed?

There are a fair number of X Rated movies available that aren't XXX Rated, but were rated for some of the explicit content shown. But they're not necessarily disgusting or trampy movies. It's just the way they were rated by the industry.

So I guess my point is where do you draw the line between what is acceptable "adult content" and what is just down right porn??

              Respectfully

I think what we are talking about is content that is XXX as such. I don't think there's much true MPAA rated X material in the AVN channe.

In the case of Caligula, although it's definitely an adult movie (possibly X Rated), it's been shown several times (probably in edited format) on TV and has big stars like Malcolm McDowell and Peter O'Toole.
I'd agree and I wasn't calling you out in terms of mentioning Caligula or Debbie Does Dallas. Again, I didn't want the thread turning into a request thread. If I had felt that your comments crossed the line, I would have edited or removed them.

There is a Caligula movie in the normal section of the box. It is stated that it has explicit content on it. I don't know if it's the same movie or not.

So I guess a question would be if I had requested Caligula in a different thread would anyone have objected? And if I would have requested a movie on this thread that has questionable sexual values, like Broke Back Mountain, would it have been removed?
No. These movies are probably all MPAA rated. The content put out by the adult industry technically has no rating even though they say it's "Rated X." This is one reason why you get virtually no X-Rated movies as it's a death knell for the movie because of the porn industry association. It's another reason why the NC-17 rating was created but that's flopped too...

There are a fair number of X Rated movies available that aren't XXX Rated, but were rated for some of the explicit content shown. But they're not necessarily disgusting or trampy movies. It's just the way they were rated by the industry.
Agreed. "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover" was an NC-17 rated movie that while quite explicit was a very good movie and very well done movie. I would put in a mature category but it does not fit into the XXX genre.

There's also some soft core content in the AVN channel including Sylvester Stallone's first film (ever know where he got the name "Italian Stallion"?) And while we could probably discuss those movies w/o much trouble, Vudu as a company has taken the position that on their boards that we want to stay away from it.

So I guess my point is where do you draw the line between what is acceptable "adult content" and what is just down right porn??
I think what the safe line would be is if you know it's in the AVN section, don't discuss the content. That said, there's still content on the main section that is more explicit than some of the softcore AVN content.

There's a movie called Virtual Girl which is could be considered soft core. Then there's a more mainstream film like "Lust and Caution" which had an unrated version that FWIU, it's quite explicit. The movie must be showing on cable now because it's not in the latest database. But that was an Ang Lee movie and so it's mainstream. But as I understand it, the original film was going to get an X rating so they toned it down. Vudu was carrying the original film.

So it does seem like a double standard that something could be explicit in the main part of the box and be OK to talk about but something that is potentially less explicit on the AVN side is verboten. I know. But I don't make the rules.

I would suggest that if people want to discuss the AVN content, that this be carried on at PlanetVudu.com. It's an independent site and it would be more appropriate to have such discussions there.

It's nice to see there is someone out there besides me who has seen this movie. I watched back in my college days and I have yet to run into anyone else that has seen it. Whenever I get into discussions about films. I discuss this one for its use of colors.
I would love to see this again but on Amazon the region 1 DVD sells used for 74.00.

The use of colors in this movie was something and added a definite artistic quality to it. It was cool how scenes were entirely monochromatic. I thought it was available on Vudu at one point but maybe not. It should be.

When I get home this evening I will have to look and see. If it is I know what I will be watching tonight.

I hope it's okay to post this -- there's actually a free HD adult title available on Vudu. I'm not going to post the name but it's the first poster under Collections.

I don't see ShortBus when searching on Vudu. Does Vudu have it? And btw, Shortbus is not an XXX film, it's a mainstream-art film I suppose, explicit, but not "porn" as I understand.
