    No video though HTPC

I'm using the Boxee Web application through an HTPC as specified below. It runs through an Onkyo SR 608 and then to a Panasonic g25 plasma. I can navigate to vudu , but almost any video I try to play will either show no video or a frozen still image (trailers, rented movies, etc.). Audio plays fine. Occasionally, I will get a few seconds of video, but it will either freeze or any pause will result in a black screen. I've run a nearly identical laptop (Core i5, Intel HD graphics) through the same receiver to the same television, and it plays fine, and I have the same problem if I play the HTPC directly to an attached monitor. All drivers are up to date, and all other video services work fine (Netflix, Amazon, Windows media Center, etc.). One clue might be that when I test my network connection, the video of the forest scene that shows on other computers when that process takes place does not appear, but when the bar chart of bandwidth shows up, that looks fine. I assume it is some sort of video codec issue, but I can't figure out which one. does anyone have any ideas? Also, Insight Cable maybe throttling vudu; I get much lower throughput that any other bandwidth test.
