I sent the following email to Vudu support:
I'm very upset about the image quality of Vudu's HDX version of the musical, Oklahoma. Some time ago Vudu only offered it in SD so I purchased it because it's my favorite musical and I thought it would be more convenient than putting the DVD in every time I wanted to watch it. I was horrified at the SD quality on my 50" screen. It was worse than any other SD film I've watched on Vudu. Then I found out it was because of the print Vudu was using. Instead of the Cinemascope version, Vudu uses the dreadful Todd-AO version which is dirty, grainy and BLURRY!
Recently I noticed that Vudu was now offering Oklahoma in HDX. I was elated because it isn't even available on Blu-Ray. Even though I had already spent $10 for the SD version, I sprung for another $13 so I could finally watch Oklahoma in glorious 1080p HD. To my shock and total disappointment, the image quality was actually WORSE than the SD version. All Vudu did was present the exact same Todd-AO print, only streamed in 1080p! They might as well have streamed a VHS tape in 1080p!
All the HDX version does is magnify the dirt, grain and blurriness of this horrid print. My ten year old DVD version of the Cinemascope version is ten times better quality than this "HDX" version that Vudu is offering. It's a disgrace and Vudu should pull it immediately.
I feel like I was taken both times I purchased Oklahoma from Vudu. The SD version was way below standard definition quality and the HDX version was even worse! I will NEVER be watching Oklahoma on Vudu again.

That's it? Not an apology for offering such terrible quality? Not, "I will certainly pass on your concerns to our technicians"? Not any type of explanation at all. The refund is the least they could do. Someone really needs to take a look at their HDX version of Oklahoma and pull it off their servers. Not only is it a disgrace, but it's a rip off. In fact, so is the SD version. You would expect the SD version to look at least as good as a DVD. Vudu's SD Oklahoma looks worse than VHS.
