Dialogue is quieter than the sound effects and Brightness is very low

I've been experiencing this issue for quite a while now, but I always just assumed it had something to do with the high quality of the audio and video. Well, today, while watching Thor on my VUDU account I noticed the brightness is particularly low. During dark scenes it's nearly impossible to see anything.

Not only this, but the dialogue is terribly quiet, and I can hear an audible popping noise before and after any dialogue, followed by a huge drop in volume. I can HEAR the music and background noise dropping significantly whenever they start talking. And then I can HEAR it get louder again.

I decided to pop in the Blu Ray disc that I have, which is the same copy that I got the digital copy activation code from, just to see if there was a difference. Sure enough, the disc has absolutely no issues. Dark scenes are perfectly visible. I checked several spots where I knew the audio was ducking in volume and again the disc has no problems whatsoever with the audio. This is really discouraging and almost makes me want to stop using the service altogether, especially because there is no options in the settings menu that could possibly change these issues.

Keep in mind that I am using the exact same TV to watch both versions. And I am using the same PS4 for the VUDU app and also the disc.

If there are any solutions out there, or even some sort of cause, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise I might have to take my loyal services elsewhere, someplace where I can actually enjoy watching the movies that I pay good money for.

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

As far as your audio issues, If you do not have a 5.1 sound system your PS4 likely thinks you do, make sure it?s set to 2-channel stereo.
With the video, My recommendation is to calibrate your TV with something like the Spears and Munsil disc

Since Blu-rays through the same PS4 do not have the same video issues, it would definitely seem to be a Vudu issue. Hopefully someone from Vudu will comment for you. Were Vudu and the Blu-ray both playing in HD?

As for the audio, it could be Vudu but are you sure that your Blu-ray was set to play in the same audio mix as Vudu? Double check the audio settings of the Blu-ray to make sure it's not just playing with 2.0 or 2.1 audio to make sure there's not an audio issue on your end. It could be something like stereo plays fine for you but surround needs calibrating or has problems.
