I would suggest that the sound loss has more to do with your AV receiver, and its ability to lock onto the digital signal, and decode.

That is not an uncommon problem, when starting and stopping a CD/DVD/ or other digital audio source.

A simple "power down/power up" will reset it. It is probably not the fault of the VUDU unit.

The Video Freeze is another story. That is likely a software, or low memory problem or some such.

you were right about the receiver problem. I called tech support at Crutchfield and I had to change my input settings.

the Vudu box was a separate issue.

had the same problem (movies were freezing and dropping sound). rebooting fixed the problem.
