Can't find Vudu app in Boxee

So I installed Boxee on my Linux Element 1.4 OS on my pc and new that Vudu was added to Boxee!

So I went to the Vudu website and it said just hit ESC and it should be there. but it wasn't. I also looked in the App Library and wasn't there either. Is there a repository that I have to add or something?

According to this page on Vudu's site:

      http://www.vudu.com/product_boxee.html

Vudu is supposed to be available on Linux Boxee as well. So where is it?

Had the same issue. Downloaded the 55MB boxee file only to find that the promised linux app is not present. I guess I will stick to Hulu, which has released huludesktop for the linux platform. Since both flash and boxee are cross-platform, is there any reason why there is no app for linux?

I don't understand the decision to not include the Vudu app the linux version of Boxee - why? That is ridiculous!

              PaulZ,

It may be an leagal or other technical issue that prevents VUDU from playing in the Linux version.

There is absolutely NO technical limitation for Linux on this. Need proof? The Boxee box runs linux. That has VUDU movies! .-. Not all linux users are pirates, in fact, little are. So what the hell is up with no providing a linux version of VUDU movies?

Re: Can't find Vudu app in Boxee

The reason is because the studios execs are absolute morons. They think that Linux users are pirates and do not acknowledge the fact that maybe we just prefer superior open source OS's. They also think that DRM prevents privacy when it has been proven to do the opposite. People should own the content they purchase and should be able to play it on any device. The music industry learned this the hard way. If you give people DRM content many still pirate it for the simple fact that they do not like the restrictions imposed by DRM.

What they need to realize is that if the price is reasonable and the content is available legally, most users will purchase it. If the content is not legally attainable all their huge marketing budgets do is encourage pirating. If I can't legally purchase a movie I want to see either because it isn't available on my platform or because it is too new. Every trailer I see is just encouraging me to pirate that content. People will get it by any method available if they really really want to see it. Most people to not want to pirate and would actually pay premium prices for movies still in the theater. If given the option to pirate a movie still in theaters or stream it legally for $10 to $15 I would stream it legally.

Just a small case in point. I hate having to load netflix in a VM or reboot into windows with such a passion that I constantly purchase movies on amazon that I can watch for free on netflix. Seriously I do this regularly several times a week to the tune of $6 to $30. I would do it more if more videos were available on amazon.

Anyone wanting to install Vudu on Linux is making an effort to pay for content and the option isn't available. It is almost enough to make you want to boot up windows, pirate the content and set it free.

Seriously, it is as if they think you can't pirate the content on windows or mac. Morons I tell you, MORONS!!!!!!!!!
