The Fandango at Home Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Fandango at Home experience. Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc).     Tonda, were you talking there only about purchase-downloads? Can you also do rental-downloads?

    As I am the one that originally posted this thread, I wanted to thank VUDU and let them know that I have been more than pleased with the download option on the PS3. It makes me more happy than anything, thank you for listening and granting my wish!

    Dear VUDU:

    Could I have some updated clarification on this subject of rentals being able to be downloaded for playback at a later time.

    A couple months ago when I rented a VUDU movie on my PS3, I saw an option to ?Download for Later? along with ?Watch Now? and ?Cancel.? It now appears that the Download for Later option is no longer available. (At least among the half-dozen movies I looked into today.)

    Has that functionality been withdrawn entirely, or only available on some titles?

    That's a pretty cool new feature. I went the route of buying two BX100s and a BX1000 to store my movies a while back.

    On the subject of the BD690, do downloads only occur while the Vudu app is active, or will they continue as long as the player is powered up?

    I'd be happy if Sony would just add Vudu to all their internet-enabled devices. I have a Sony Bravia with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and at least a dozen other podcasts/streaming services....but no Vudu?!?

    Hey,

    The Vudu STB was discontinued quite a while ago (though you can probably find one on eBay used fairly cheap). On the other hand, a new BD player is more expensive but will have better performance and other features (like playing BDs and DVDs as well as a warranty.

    And we'd like to support download on the PS3 as well - in the end that will probably come down to what Sony allows apps to do.

    I understand that other devices have the download option and that is a major plus. I've heard the Vudu set box offers DL options for rentals. If so why are you guys recommending BD players over the box? And how big is the HD in the Vudu set box.

    Also, thirdly, is there any future hope that PS3 will be able to download and watch later for rentals?

    Thanks, what I needed. I was considering buying a gaming console, and if the PS3 had that ability, I could use it as the media hub, but since it does not, still need the BD690.
