Could be a lot of things causing interference with the wireless signal, might try running a hard wired solution to see if it works better that way.

We have been trying to get this resolved, but I don't have any news yet - the issue is that the Kinect camera processing is doing a lot of work on the CPU in the background even when it's not being used. Apparently MS has a solution for their video app, but they have not made it available to other apps yet...

Xbox One definitely will not have this problem, as it was designed with 1080p video playback in mind.

I cut & pasted the above answer from different thread in this same forum. Not sure if true but Jake from vudu engineering suggests kinect is source of xbox 360 vudu app buffering issues. Not tested myself. I have hardwire connection. When I have open NAT I perceive less issues. Occasionally with power surge my router will change my Xbox 360 IP address and thus ports I have opened no longer sync up and I start to see more buffering issues. Check your Xbox to see if you have an open Nat. Under systems or setup in Xbox 360 menus. Closed or moderate NAT is no good for multiplayer games and I perceive a difference in streaming as well. I admit I'm no expert just trying to sift through answers and solutions to this issue.

Actually I was just mentioning that we have seen some stuttering issues on 1080p (HDX) content with Kinect plugged in - not buffering issues, which should mostly be based on the network connectivity. The Kinect issue is more about CPU resources than the network.

I only watch HDX if possible. I see people describing similar issues that i have noted on both threads. What's the difference between stuttering & buffering issues? When I watch movies on vudu occasionally the movie will "stutter" if this happens enough times it throws me to a screen suggesting that I do not have enough bandwith, which I assure you is not the case. Never do I see the word buffering on screen during these slow downs or stutters. I thought this was buffering issues. I experience less issues with an open NAT on my Xbox. Not sure though. Don't even know my stuts from my buffs.

The "stuttering" I was originally mentioning is much more subtle - it's just a minor jitter in the video frames because it can't present them at exactly the right times for 24/30fps video.

"Buffering" means the content could not be downloaded fast enough, so it has to wait to get more (which would completely interrupt playback).

Just blew 22 dollars on World War Z only to have it buffer every minute... even in SD. My connection is great. Every other app streams fine. Awesome job vudu.

I have now officially given up on Vudu on the Xbox. Buffering has become atrocious, although I do not believe it is a Vudu issue, but an Xbox Live issue. Xbox Live is a terrible middleman; an unnecessary bunch of costly overhead that cripples normally good working services and we get to pay for it. I have two Xboxes in my home, one is hard wired and one is wireless. They are both the newest versions of the Xbox so the wireless is wireless N. Regardless of this fact it cannot stream Vudu movies successfully. It also, on occasion, has trouble streaming other services. I also have a PS3 which is a wireless G, and in the same location as the wireless Xbox, rarely any issues. The wired Xbox, although better, suffers from buffering issues as well. The cheap, Samsung blu-ray player that is right next to it and also wired NEVER has any problem whatsoever. Same goes for a cheap, wireless Sony blu-ray player that is in the basement. The only issue that is strictly a Vudu issue is the Kinect. It is quite the pain to have to unplug the Kinect each time you want to watch a Vudu movie (another reason not to use the Xbox). No other app has stuttering issues with the Kinect, only Vudu.

With wired connection & an OPEN NAT VUDU works fairly smoothly with no stutters or buffering issues approximately 80-85% of the time for me. I admit still needs to be better. No issues regardless of NAT with cinema now, Netflix, or flixster xbox app.

Considering my computer and my cheap blu-ray players work 100% of the time (wired and wireless) streaming Vudu, a service that I pay for (Xbox Live) that works 80-85% of the time isn't something I'm going to be pleased with. And I'm not the only one. Xbox has issues streaming content for a lot of people who otherwise have no issues with other devices.

I have no issues streaming from any other service on Xbox live. Just occasionally on VUDU. Last night watched Oblivion. Never stuttered or buffered even once. 2 days ago almost could not make it through a movie on VUDU. Otherwise I love me some Xbox live.

This only seems to be an issue with VUDU on the xbox. I bought a movie, couldn't stream it, then played it on the ipad through VUDU app, worked fine. Netflix worked fine on the xbox. I have researched and was about to take apart the xbox and get a new network card until I saw this forum. VUDU - please fix your streaming problems with xbox.
