Sony Blu-ray Player - Vudu App Error

While playing a movie on my Sony Blu-ray Player through the Vudu app, I keep getting the error "Ultraviolet Account Required." This screen will pop-up usually about one hour into a movie, which is a UV movie, and the movie will actually still be playing beneath the pop-up screen. I will hit OK on the error screen, and it will take me back to the title screen of the movie, and then I will have to resume playing the movie.

A couple tech specs of what I'm using:
    - Sony Bluray Player is one week old. It is BDPS5500. The firmware is up-to-date.
    - This happens nearly every movie about an hour into it.
    - Obviously, I already have a UV account.
    - This bluray player is registered as one of my devices. I only have 4 devices registered, so I'm not anywhere near the max.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!!!

This issue continues. Any technical help???

I have another Sony bluray player, and a couple Samsung bluray players, but none of them have this issue. Only having this problem with the BDPS5500.

I did not initially open up a report, but I did now. It is #150623-000209.

        Thanks!

Even after following the direction from technical support, the problem still persists.

This issue was never resolved. It occurred on multiple different 5500 players. I'm running other bluray players -- Sony and Samsung -- in the house on the same modem, same UV account, same speed, and I only get the error on the 5500. It times out approximately every 62 minutes into a UV-enabled movie. It does not occur to non-UV movies. The movie just goes back to the movie's menu screen, and requires that you select "resume." The issue is resolved in less than 10 seconds, but it is nevertheless annoying. It's like changing a reel of film.

I spoke to Vudu customer service and they offered no solutions.

Original poster here. It was never resolved. Vudu tech contacted me and said that they could not duplicate the issue. It was never resolved. Still happens every 1 hour into a UV movie.

That is so weird. I see this problem everywhere when I google it. How can they not replicate it?

Had the same thing happen to me for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago. But I've also played other movies too on the same player since and haven't had the same problem.??? I do have my player hard wired to help keep connection/streaming issues to a minimum.

I'm guessing it has to do with a weirdness in the BDP 5500 that causes an issue only with an uncommon account configuration/attribute. If it was something that always happens with this particular player, 1) there would be a lot more people complaining, and 2) they would have been able to replicate it. It's just a guess, but that's one possible way it could happen.

OP here: I have four bluray players in my house. 2 Samsungs, 2 Sonys. Only this one me Sony is getting this error, and it's been like that since Day 1.

I have unlinked/relinked UV from my Vudu, done firmware updates, and anything else you could imagine.

                            No luck.

Hey there. I'm having this same issue with two new sony bdp-6500's. Both error out after about an hour. If I hit ok I'm brought back to the menu and need to resume the movie. If I click the "return" button the message goes away and the movie continues to play. It's really annoying. I've opened a ticket and both myself and support have relinked by UV account and the issue continues. I hope it will get resolved soon, or I'll be trading in these bd players for something else, as vudu is my main source of movie playing. Thanks.
