The Fandango at Home Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Fandango at Home experience. Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). XBox One S new app?

    XBox One S new app?

    So this weekend I got an update message on my XBox One S for a "Movies and TV Vudu" app that has an app icon like the new Win 10 app. Installing and starting it gives a screen to use the current app, but a "new one coming soon be among the first to get it" message. Does anyone have any additional tantalizing info? Will it support UHD? Will it support HDR-10? Will it support On Us? :-)

    This is wonderful news! A few of my friends have been waiting for this for a long time. I would guess it would support UHD and Movies On Us, but I don't know about HDR-10. Only a couple Vudu movies have HDR-10.

      This should be based on the Windows 10 UWP (Universal Windows Platform). The Windows 10 app does support UHD but I don't really want to buy one through Windows 10 only to find that the option to play it on my 4k TV through the Xbox One S isn't available through their old app. Would be great for them to release it through the Xbox Insider program at least. I would strongly consider switching everything to VUDU if they have adequate UHD support and options available through the Windows 10 ecosystem. UHD feels like it is so tantalizingly close and yet, so far.

        Wow ! Finally! I didn't realize Vudu had HDR10 movies yet. Can anyone give an example of one? Or how to find them?

          I don't think the app is working yet. Every review on the windows store says it won't install.

              This is about the app on Xbox One. It still has not been updated for Xbox One. It just installs a "Coming Soon, install the original to get the update first" app. It does list Xbox One as a supported platform, but it is not yet.

                  A Vudu engineer said in another forum this week that it is in Beta and they are waiting for a system update from MS that fixes an issue. Then it will be released. Don't know if the December system update included that fix. If not then likely not until January before we see another chance for it.

                    The new app is now available for Xbox One consoles. It does require the December firmware update that was released yesterday, so be sure to check your system for updates before attempting to download/update the app. The new app supports UHD playback on the Xbox One S, but does not support HDR-10 (VUDU doesn't support HDR-10 yet).

                    The app loads quickly and works like a charm, fantastic to have a modern VUDU experience on the Xbox One!

                      This is live on my Xbox One!!! You have to search for Vudu in the store as this is a new app and not an update to the existing app.

                        I just got the new version as well. Darn near fell out of my chair! Sadly, there are no 3D movies to choose from, but I'm still a happy camper.

                            How is the UI of the new app? is it like Ps4/roku UI. I hated vudu app on xbox one. Was thinking of upgrading to One S if Vudu app is better.

                              The UI is exactly the same as the PS4 and Roku apps. The new app will work on the Xbox One and Xbox One S, the only thing exclusive to the S is the UHD option.
