    Video artifacts

I opened a case on 10/9 regarding a distracting amount of video compression artifacts I noticed in a movie I bought. I'm new to VUDU and am eager to try out the service.
The technician responded the same day asking what times in the movie did I notice the artifacts, which I provided. I still haven't heard anything back yet.

I also had a question about HDX files. Will they play on a 720p display through the ROKU? I was under the impression that HDX only plays on 1080p displays, otherwise I would've bought the HDX version of the movie since I understand they have less artifacts and it was the same price as the HD version.

    Thanks!

HDX will play on a 720p display, but, I don't know that picture will be any "cleaner " since the output is still 720p. I would imagine your monitor would compress the signal somehow. I'm no tech head, but I'm sure someone else on here with better knowledge will chime in and help out. You could try renting an HDX version of the movie and then change the output to 720p on your player and see if you notice a difference.

If you have a good Internet connection (capable of > 9Mbps streaming), HDX will look better scaled down to 720p, since there are more bits available for the encode.

You can try/test this yourself without buying anything, as our "new trailers" are available in HDX. Also, all titles have a free 2 minute preview, and we have some free 10 minute previews:
