    Network Issues

I've had these issues for a couple days now.

When I open the VUDU app on my PS3, or my Samsung Smart TV, all of the movies in every tab are just blank slots. Sometimes when I close and reopen VUDU the movies show back up, but when I click to watch a particular movie, the error I receive is:

'Unable to stream this movie at the moment due to a network error. Please try again a little later'.

But what's even more odd is that it doesn't do that for every movie (but it does do it for the majority of them).

I've now noticed that even when I try to watch certain movies in my library on my laptop, the error I receive is:

'Movie file not found. If the movie file was stored in an external storage card, please make sure the card is still plugged in. [#2032]'.

Keep in mind that I have never downloaded anything to an external storage device.

I've tested my internet connection on my PS3 and laptop...everything seems to check out okay. I was also getting network errors when I tried to do the VUDU network speed test, but eventually that did work, and showed that my home network and internet connection should be able to play videos in HDX quality.

When I tried speedtest.vudu.com, I also received the following error:

'Download test returned an error while trying to read the download file'

But after a couple tries the testing worked and gave me the results of 27994 kbps and 5668 kbps respectively.

I've also tried to uninstall/reinstall the app, as well as disconnect/reconnect my router/modem and unlink/relink Ultraviolet, but still no luck.

Playback for my Ultraviolet movies still work on CinemaNow and Flixster, so that leads me to think that this may be an issue that I'm having with VUDU specifically.

    Any assistance would be great.

I'm have the same issue. Local network fine and other streaming sites fine, but vudu.com not working. Tried via Comcast and and Verizon 4g. "Content failed to load" or page blank. This issue started Saturday March 1. Very annoying.

      steveh11284,

I have had exactly the same issues. I have contacted VUDU Support, but have not yet had any responses.

This is has been going on for three days now. It is extremely frustrating, because I can't access any content from VUDU by any means. I can't use the app on my Samsung TV. I can't stream anything online via a laptop. And I also can't download anything. I have already paid for these movies/shows, and now I can't use them.

VUDU needs to fix this immediately, or give me my money back. Why pay for something you can't use?

Our apologies for the poor experience over the weekend. Could you provide a little bit of information so that I can help? Where are you located? Who is your ISP?

Our operations team is investigating and working with the ISP's to prevent this from happening in the future.

You've described my issues to a T. I've been going back and forth with support trying to figure out the issue, but haven't come to an answer yet. The new "movie file not found" error just started the other day, the "unable to stream" error has been ongoing for a few weeks.

I'm feeling there's something going on with vudu, but on a lark, is there any chance that your provider is Atlantic Broadband?

            Re: Network Issues

            Hello again,

I was finally able to solve all my issues and I wanted to pass along the solution. Logging into my router directly and not just doing a reboot, but actually doing a factory reset fixed everything. I am really confused what the issue could've been, but I've read that the NVRAM in an Asus RT-N66u can get corrupted if it's not reset after a firmware update and I've done a few over time. I literally have had no other issues with any other services, so it's very odd, but it absolutely fixed the issue.

I would suggest trying to plug your PS3 or some other device directly into your broadband connection and bypass the router altogether for an instant and see if that solves the problem for that device. If it does, try doing the factory reset and see if that fixes it for you also.

            Hope this helps!
            Matt

              Re: Network Issues

The VUDU reps had mentioned that this was an issue taking place along the east coast for Comcast customers. I believe Atlantic Broadband is also owned by Comcast, which may be the reason why you had the issue as well.

It would really be nice if there was some sort of notification that could be sent out to VUDU customers, so that we know that it's not an issue on our end, and also so we're not pulling our hair out trying to figure out how to troubleshoot the issue.

Huh, I didn't know about the outage. I think the rep did ask me at one point about whether I was on Comcast, but never mentioned why. Atlantic Broadband is owned by a Canadian company called Cogeco, but I don't know if they share any common pipelines with Comcast...?
