I have several complaints I'd like to list here, as I'm not sure where else to post them. First, I'm using an AT&T HTC One with Android 4.4.2. Yesterday, I uninstalled, then re-installed the Vudu app, since that seems to be the common first step listed on this forum.
1) Having to uninstall, then re-install the app is pretty silly - none of the other apps on my phone require me to do that to receive the latest version.
2) I can't multi-task. If I receive a notification, it doesn't show at the top of the screen. When I'm watching a video, all I see is the "Close" button to stop the video. When I hit close, or the home button on my phone, the player doesn't remember where I paused the video and is usually almost completely unresponsive when I return, which brings me to my next point.
3) When I do leave the app to do anything else on my phone, the app is usually unresponsive when I return. That, or if I hit play again on my video, the video pops up but the player controls are absent so I can't fast-forward back to the correct play location. I have to completely close the app, then re-launch it so the controls will work again. Then I'm greeted again with a video that doesn't remember the play location. All of this takes forever since the app is so slow, which is my next point...
4) The app is horribly slow. Navigating works fine with a fresh launch of the program, albeit slowly. If I stay in the app, but turn off my phone for a bit then come back to it moments later, often times I can't view any thumbnails without first switching to another tab, then back to the desired tab before the icons will show up.
5) The controls are incredibly small. Maybe that's related to the resolution of my phone's screen, but Netflix and Hulu don't have his problem. The play icon is too close to the Download/Delete button. The pause button is too close to the slider. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to hit the pause button before finally pausing the video. That, or accidentally hitting the slider bar and restarting my video all the way back to the beginning.
I love Vudu, but hate the app. When I looked back at the reviews on the app store, that seems to be the common response from other users. Please do something to upgrade/fix the app!
