    Corrupted File?

I just watched "Adaptation" in HDX and at 12 minutes the image stuttered and pixelated for a few seconds. As this is repeatable, my guess is that the original encode is defective. Is this common, and something that can be fixed?

I can say it's not common. I can't recall watching any Vudu movies that have repeatable glitches. I don't see why it can't be fixed.

What device are you using for playback? We will try to reproduce. If this is repeatable on multiple devices we will try to re-encode. If this is device specific, we will have to identify the issue and get a firmware update.

This problem occurs from time 12:00 through 12:09. (BTW, there is also a quick stutter and audio dropout at time 11:52.) As of this writing, it is still repeatable on a 2011 Samsung HDTV using its SmartTV Vudu App., and a 2014 Samsung Blu-ray player using its SmartTV Vudu app. (The BD player, I believe, has the latest version of the Vudu app., which is quite nice ) Further, I just tested this on my PC, streaming the SD version, and experienced the exact same problem. I do not believe this is device related...

I do appreciate the very quick response from Vudu Engineering. Thank you!

No problem. Our QA also confirmed the issue. We will ask for a new encode. Please understand that this will take a little bit of time to resolve.

Understood. I'm not impatient, and I'm pleased that Vudu has some recourse with issues like this. Thanks again!

I just searched google for this issue and found this thread. I can say that the glitch is still there. I am watching Adaptation as well, and had this same issue. At first I thought it was an issue with my bandwidth or something causing the stream to slow, but sure enough I rewound the movie and it happens at the same area, along the same time frame as the previous poster. I'm watching the movie through the Tivo Vudu app.

And this is why I stopped buying from Vudu among other reasons. Anytime there is an issue, they give you the "new encode request" line and it never happens. Just search the forums and you'll see. It should not take over a year for a new encode.
