Vudu player application crashing on LG TV

    I now have a different solution which is a little thinking outside the box. Its called Movies Anywhere. This service links to multiple movie providers including Vudu and Google Play/YouTube. This means any movies you already bought on Vudu can be watched on the LG TV YouTube app! The good news is the YouTube app works very well with none of the LG Vudu app issues. The bad news is it only works for purchases movies, free content doesn't apply.
    It wont cost you anything but you need to use/create a gmail account. Below are the basics steps if you wish to do it.

    1. Create a Movies Anywhere account.
    2. Link your Vudu account to Movies Anywhere
    3. If you don't already have one, create a Google Play account. This works perfectly for iOS users as well. You don't need an Android device to sign up for Google Play.
    4. Link your Google Play account to Movies Anywhere.
    5. Download the LG Youtube app and login with the same Gmail account you used for Google Play.
    6. All your purchased Vudu Movies will now be in the YouTube 'Library => Purchases' section!


    Your purchases remain in Vudu and any new ones will show up in the YouTube app in minutes. But you can use either app to watch, or you can ditch the Vudu app.

      There was a VUDU App update (dated 8/22) for all 3 of my LG TV's the other day. I watched 2 full movies on my 2018 LG this weekend with no issues (knock on wood). So maybe its fixed.

        My LG tv isn?t even loading the app right now. I?m stuck on connecting and then it times out. And yes my WiFi is fine.

            Yeah I couldn?t even get through the last half hour of Avengers a couple days ago. Probably stopped 5 times. This is really getting ridiculous at this point.

              Same issue here. Any word from the Devs? Currently the only device and app I can use to view Dolby Vision on Vudu.

                Still happening as of 10/4/2019. Vudu support has been unresponsive to my support ticket.

                  This is a helpful workaround unless you want to watch a Paramount movie, or a movie from another distributor who does not work with Movies Anywhere.

                    Got a software update today that says they fixed they hopefully fixed the issue. Though it only referenced 4k movies.

                      Found in the LG forum that uninstalling the VUDU app fixed this issue. Watched UHD (owned) Deadpool start to finish, no problems. To uninstall the Vudu app, hit the Home button on your remote to pull up the app launcher. Hover over the Vudu app in the launch and long-hold the remote center button. This should allow you to move the app in the launcher. You may have to hit Close to exit the move function. You should then see an X above the Vudu app. Click on the X and confirm that you want to delete Vudu. Hit the app launcher (home) button again and go to the LG content store. Search Vudu and then filter by apps. Select the Vudu app and reinstall. I also updated to WebOS version 5.10.20 (was at 5.10.03). Be sure to restart your TV after updating webOS. I have the OLED55E8PUA.

                        LG is rolling out an update for their 2018 TV models that addresses this playback error. Please check your TV's update feature for the fix.
