Sony BDP-S580 Movie Time and Resume Problem

    Sony BDP-S580 Movie Time and Resume Problem

    I have an issue with Vudu on my Sony BPD-S580 Blu-Ray player. When I first set it up I didn't have this issue. Since adding my Vudu account to other devices the issue has manifested and is now always a problem. I cannot verify a relationship between Vudu on other devices and this issue, but it is the only thing I can recall that changed on my end.

    When playing a movie the time (as in how far into the movie) is always wrong. At first I thought it was just annoying. But if I stop the movie and then resume later, it jumps way ahead skipping a lot. If I stop and resume again it will do it again. The jump varies but it is on the order of tens of minutes (multiple chapters).

    When I start a movie from the beginning the time never starts at zero. It's always much further along, but the video stream starts at the beginning of the movie. Again, stop, resume, jump.

    If I select a chapter it starts playback at the correct spot but again, time is wrong and again, stop, resume, jump.

    Accessing Vudu and watching movies from any other device I own does not have this issue. Just the Blu-Ray player.

    I have checked fur updates and there are none. If rebooted the player but no difference. I'm at a loss here.

    Anyone else have a similar issue?

    Hi mtuozzo,

    I am also suffering this problem and had made no adjustments or changes to my system prior to faults. This started to be recognized within the last few months and we have just managed through the problem as you have, but I would also like to have a response from Vudu on a resolution, or from Sony with a "patch" to their firmware to resolve the issue.

      Thanks for posting. At least I'm not alone with this issue but I find it hard to believe that we are the only two that have this problem. I honestly haven't used Vudu on my Sony BDP-S580 for quite a while so I don't know if the problem still exists for me but I can only assume it's still an issue. I'll check again tonight.
