    VUDU connection down - AGAIN

About every other week on Friday night the VUDU network is down and I can't connect to get any movies. Now tonight - NEW YEARS EVE - I can't connect.

The units no good if I can't watch movies other than during the daytime when everyone's at work - including me!

What's the problem? Seems like there's maybe a bandwidth problem into the VUDU servers on busy nights?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

A box powercycle seemed to fix this.

My VUDU box at home is connected right now so I know the service isn't down. Can you describe your home network so we can figure out how your VUDU is connected?

I probably have scrapped movie plans a dozen times in the past year because of this. Looks like it might be time to reactivate my Blockbuster or Netflix accounts!
Have you tried rebooting your Vudu box when this happens? It usually comes right back up. It's not always Vudu's fault here. Reboot your box.

I know when my router on FIOS changes IP addresses I wil lose my connection to VUDU. Usually it comes back up on it's own but sometimes I need to give the box another internal IP address to get it to connect again.

I have no idea why it happens. but it never happens to all 3 boxes only one or two.

Strange that you're having trouble. I downloaded and watched two movies last night with no trouble at all.

Could it be that something specific to your setup is causing the box to lose connectivity so frequently?
As far as I know our servers haven't been down (I know I've been using my box regularly, and I haven't seen reports of similar symptoms from any other customer).

When your box shows "Network Down", have you tried going into the Network Troubleshooter page and reconnect? (it's the page with the 3-step process/check boxes with tick marks)

              Greg,

I have seen my box lose connectivity from time to time and when that happens, the network test page does not do anything to get it back. I have to reboot the box. It's rare but it does happen some times.

Can you describe what happens there? It's supposed to go through 3 steps (with tick marks when it works). Where does it fail? (which step number)

It fails at the connection to Vudu. But I can run it multiple times and it always fails. Then I reboot and it connects fine. I've never filled out a report for it since I've not been able to really document it well and give any meaningful info as to "why" it would do this.

This is very rare for me BTW.

                    OK, thanks.
If you ever come across this problem again, would you mind notifying us so we can check if there is any issue on the server side? (load balancing, etc...)
Just the timestamp of when this happens should be enough for us to look into logs and start digging.

No problem Greg. I should have done that before.

Also, I just replaced my old 5 port Linksys switch at the AV end that was beginning to "freak out" with a new D-Link switch and better yet, the Vudu now runs directly to my main 16 port switch that's tied into my router. So it may have been a network problem on my end but I'll put out a distress call next time it happens.
