    Error code 28, Vizio TV

    Hi,

I just bought a Vizio P502ui-B1E TV. I successfully connected to VUDU using the app one time. All following attempts have given me error code 28: Operation timeout.

I have searched this forum and found many posts with the same problem. The only solution I saw was to tweak the router firewall settings or call customer support. On my wireless network, I also have a Panasonic Blu-ray player with the VUDU app. I am able to connect to VUDU from this app. This leads me to believe that I do not have a network problem. I have unplugged the TV and re-entered the VUDU app; same result.

I expect to call customer support tomorrow, unless this forum can provide additional troubleshooting tips.

    Hardware id: SIGMSX6 1CC9507 8D10A5C C75E5DF
    Device id: 405BE
    Software version: 3.1.0-124634-SystemDriverSigmaSX6 1.0

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

    Give it a try now.

      Hi Dan,

Thanks for replying. I unplugged my TV, then plugged it back in, turned on the TV, and started the VUDU app. Unfortunately, I got the same result.

I do note that the Hardware id is slightly different (or I entered them wrong before). They are: SIGMSX6 1CC95D7 C75E5CF

Could you check to see if there is a firmware update for the TV itself? (probably in the TV settings menu somewhere)

That hardware ID is not valid - apparently some TVs were shipped with a bad hardware ID, and Vizio has put out new firmware to update it (it should start with "VZT...")

          Hi,

I went ahead and called VUDU support tonight. Derek had me try enabling the DMZ and I ran a bunch of trace routes and emailed them to him.

As for the firmware update, according to Vizio (through members of the AVS Forum Vizio P-Series thread), a firmware update is currently being pushed right now, but members are skeptical. Hopefully it is true. In the mean time, I can run VUDU from my Blu-ray player's app.

          Thanks,
          David

If it isn't yet, it definitely will be soon, because this is a known issue Vizio has said will be fixed ASAP.

I decided to return this TV and replace it with a different model/size. The new TV runs the VUDU app perfectly.

              Thanks,
              David
