    VUDU Network Down?

I'm getting a message that the VUDU network is experiencing difficulties. Is it just me? My System ID is 0x385d.

There was a problem last night. Try running the network diagnostics and see it it is still giving problems...

I've tried several more times. I keep getting message "Unexpectedly disconnected from server."

Well, I just now browsed the catalog, picked a new show, and it streamed right away with no problems. That leads me to think it is something within your internet service.

The VUDU box says my internet connection is fine. How do I proceed to get the box serviced? Thanks.

              Hello,

It looks like your box is connected and shows "excellent" bandwidth. Please let us know if you're still having issues.

John, all is well. As per your email, I unplugged both the VUDU and game adapter. It synced and connected. Thanks.

I noticed you said game adapter. Which one do you have? Some game adapters don't handle the network well enough to support the VUDU and have strange behaviors. Random disconnects, etc.

                    RonV,
I have a Linksys WGA54G game adapter for communication with my WRT54G router.

                      Re: VUDU Network Down?

Thanks for the info on the adpater. Some folks have reported that they have had issues with that model and the Dlink DWL-GL820. But others are using it just fine. Just keep in mind that if you do have issues with disconnects and "Yellow" network status it may be that adapter.

What it seem to be is that these adpater sometimes have issues with streaming data and connection management. Both Linksys and Dlink have limited what parameters that can be set for these devices. I am not sure if its a memory or connection limit/timeout issue.

The WGA54G is actually on our list of ones we've had problems with. We tested version 2.1 of that hardware...

The error message in question is also sometimes unrelated to our network being down. Sometimes it happens when a bridge gets 'wedged' in which case the workaround is to unplug power to the VUDU, power cycle the bridge, then after a minute or two, power the VUDU back up again.

Man there is something really wrong when a bridge gets a "Wedgie"

I'm getting the red-light almost everyday now, yet my network is up. The test says my home connection and internet connection are up, but connection to Vudu is down. After rebooting the box, it takes two tests to restore connectvity and then I get the yellow light because it figures my network is unstable. This seems like a problem on vudu's end, is this a bug? or problem with Vudu's network?

I haven't seen this issue so I'm wondering if there's something funky with your box. I would call Vudu customer service. This has become a chronic issue for you and we've been through all the "normal" troubleshooting steps and so maybe there is simply an issue with your box.
