Vudu can't play HD on Android TV...

I just realized that I am not playing any HD contents on Vudu app. All contents play on SD by my device...
I cannot fully enjoy the movie I was looking forward to.

I suspected that the communication speed might be a problem, but there was no problem...
My device is EpiqVision Mini EF12 Smart Streaming Laser Projector (relatively device and firmware is current).

How can I play HD contents by my device???

We do not support any projector for HDX or UHD playback.

You need a Roku 4K streaming stick.

This means that even if my device supports HD, it cannot play HDX because Vudu is not supported my device, right?

Correct. This is not that uncommon with Vudu or other companies. I’ve discussed this at length in older posts.

For example just because someone has a 3D Blu-ray player that plays 3D Blu-ray’s and the player has a Vudu app doesn’t mean that you can play Vudu 3D on it. It could be a limitation of the hardware and how Vudu is processed, it could be a software limitation imposed by the hardware with certain apps, it could be a contractual issue, it could be that Vudu chooses not to support that device for some reason. When I still cared about playing 3D Vudu titles I had to try multiple models to find one that was supported by the app. And there was no documentation to make it easier. The players just said they had a Vudu app built it - not what resolution it supports or even if it did 3D and not.

Same goes with 4K and HDX.

Studios changed the requirements for when HDX on Vudu is allowed on most web browsers. Even though the same limit isn’t in place with say Netflix or Prime Video. But maybe they don’t use the same streaming standard so it’s not an issue with studios. Maybe they’ve made some sort of financial deal with the studio Vudu can’t afford.

Just because hardware is capable doesn’t mean the software is, or that the hardware company will allow it for a particular app, or that the app provider wants to support it. Maybe the coding for that specific machine isn’t worth it given the complexity.

Thank you for the detailed information.
I'll buy a Roku and enjoy Vudu. Thank you.
