Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 killed sound on my Vudu App Downloaded Movie
After three days of searching I am delighted to report that I found a fix!!! Restoring from the backup was useless since Kies doesn't restore the older operating system. Who knew? I finally found a forum that was discussing 4.2 and sound loss but this was on the Nexus 7. The last post referred to ProPlayer as a fix. There is a free trial so I installed it and immediately my issue was resolved. I was glad to pay the nominal cost for this "media server" because it brought my sound back in every area, speakers, bluetooth, and earbuds. I installed the free "DSP Pack" and disabled "Native Effects", that's where the equalizer is, and I am up and running again.. Now that I am past the critical stage I may re-enable native effects at some point and play around with it. It does give a warning that says it might cause issues and to disable it if there are.
