    Sure.

P.S. Vudu gift certificates would be a cool idea.

After seeing what he's got the Vudu connected to in another thread, all I feel is envy, not sympathy

        Algolith HDMI Flea - $995
        VP50 PRo Scaler - $3,500

I guess my question is why you need both? The VP50 removes the mosquito noise as well.

But considering that these cost way more than a Vudu, yeah, I think we should start a sympathy fund for the rest of us.

I'm amazed at how much money people put into their system. I thought I was spending a lot on my Denon receiver last fall at $1299 (OK, so I got the BestBuy Magnolia guy to give it to me for $999 but that's beside the point! ). I know that's really mid-level when it comes to higher end receivers, but his HDMI flea cost as much as my entire receiver. Guess you gotta really like video!

If I had a screen or projector over 50" I would use those to devices also. Just remember that stuff used to cost over 10 grand about 4 years ago.

Yeah, but do they really make that much of a difference? I'm sure they help but is it $1000 worth of help? Keep in mind, I could buy 3 Vudu's now for $1000....

I'm sure some people are more able to notice the small improvement but most would not. Also, some want the "best" (hence the Vudu XL) and just pay to get it. I used to have a Faroudja scaler that cost something like $25,000 going into a projector that cost another $25,000. Then a few years later, I replaced the projector with one that was smaller, lighter, brighter and cheaper ($2,500) and just threw away (I'm not kidding) the Faroudja. I didn't miss it. Now, I went with the 65" LCD and the Denon 3808CI and am happier than ever.

BTW, the whole Faroudja thing was because the company that built my system recommended it, not because I asked for it. That alone shows you that Vudu can sell some XLs to people like my former self that just let someone else spec and build their "dream" system.

The Flea does more than reduce mosquito noise. My plan was to sell the Flea when I got the VP50pro. Then I realized it doesn't have the noise reduction feature of the Flea. the Flea does absolute wonders with broadcast TV and really cleans things up. I also didn't pay retail price for those items either. My VP50 pro was a trade up from a VP50 which was a trade up from a VP30 which was a trade up from an iscan Hd+ which was a trade up from an iscan Hd which was paid for with my sale from my Holo3Dgraph2 scaler which was paid for with the sale of my Holo3Dgraph 1 scaler.
wow! I've gone through way too many scales the last 6 years.

Anyway the combination of the Flea and VP50 pro works very well with SD content especially broadcast. with Bd/Hd DVD I only use the VP50pro. Hopefully when I get home tonight my VUDU will have the Bourne movies on it so I can compare them to the HD DVD versions and also check out the 5.1 sound

                    Aaron-

Thanks for the info. Are there any "lower cost" noise reducers available like the flea but just not as expensive?

                    Thanks

I don't think so. The Flea uses the REON processor which is also used in some receivers that cost less but I'm not sure if the recievers are using any of the NR cpabilities of the chip.

Has there been a complete spec sheet released for the VUDU XL to compare it to the regular VUDU?

Not to my knowledge yet. And I don't think any of my moderator partners in crime know either!

I'm just not having any luck on Ebay gettingthe VUDU box. I went as high as $360 with shipping and lost and also lost on only $225. I guess I'm going to end up waiting until February to get one and lose out on the free Bourne movies and the $50 promotion. I guess I'll have to hope they offer it for $250 again. AT this point I'll have to jump on it if they do.
Don't despair. I won one yesterday new for $160. Just run an "Advanced Search" with the "Completed" marked and you will see that you stand a good chance. Buy it now used as low as $170, at least 3 sellers now.

Guys, is there an easy hotswap method to get a new hard drive into the machine once you filled up the old one, like on the Dish DVRs?

Well, that post you quoted from was a year old! I think Aaron has purchased at least one or two more Vudus since then!

Anyhow, the hard drive is NOT user upgradeable.

In case Bobpaule missed discussions on this topic, some form of external storage support is supposed to be added to the box eventually.
