Re: Kudos to Vudu Customer Service
I think that it's really cool that actual Vudu staff participate in this forum.
The super moderators are great, but it's refreshing to see forum users that are not afraid to state they work for Vudu.
I don't see that on any other forum like Apple or Directv's forums. It's almost like they set up there sites for customer self-help and aren't really interested to listen or participate.

Re: Kudos to Vudu Customer Service
I second the kudos to John in customer service. I just got off the phone with him, since I bought my box at Christmas to see if I could get the $100 credit. He said "No problem", and the money was in my account by the time I hung up the phone!!

Cool another Hawaii Vudu user. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one.

How low can you go . . . . ?
Just for info . . . the remote also has a "low" setting, lower than "normal".

Re: Kudos to Vudu Customer Service
The sound you hear in your speakers when you iPhone is around is typical of all GSM phones. Any time the phone needs to search for tower signal to lock on to you get it. I don't care who's phone you use - they all exhibit this.
It's certainly possible the iPhone could be causing a problem, but IMHO, unlikely. The phone works at 800 MHz and the remote down at 430 MHz - or about half the frequency. It's more likely for the remote to interfere with the iPhone than the other way around (but yet still unlikely). It'd be worth a try though to leave the iPhone elsewhere just to see if it has an effect.

Originally posted by redwein View PostWell, the other night when I was having the problem, it was set to normal so I tried high. It didn't fix it so lowering it to normal won't have help their. Sometimes it works perfectly fine too. The problem is, I never know how it will behave.
It kind of reminds me of the problems I was having with IR after I installed CFL lights. The remotes wouldn't respond (and my repeater was getting flooded with IR noise). I bought a CFL/LCD "proof" repeater and that fixed that problem. I'm not sure what will work here. I will probably do some experimenting to see what's interfering. Could another Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard nearby affect it?
I just had a thought. I wonder if it is my iPhone. My wife doesn't have the problem nearly as much and she doesn't carry hers with her like I do. I noticed that a number of speakers in my house buzz occasionally when I walk by them with it. Since the remote problem (and the buzzing) don't happen 100% of the time, turning it on and trying it wouldn't be a conclusive test. I'll try turning off my phone when I have the problem again to see if that helps. That would be good if that turned out the be the culprit. If it does, I'll post a thread with my findings.Purely for diagnostic reasons, not as a long term solution.
I don't know whose worse, the iPhone-aholics or the crack-berry users.

Karen's right. Try lowering the sensitivity...
That might work.

1. Start on the Vudu Home Page (Vudu button on remote)
2. Go to Info & Settings
3. Advanced Settings
4. Remote Settings
5. Switch to "normal".
Let me know if this helps!

Re: Kudos to Vudu Customer Service
Karen and Jon are right. Higher sensitivity picks up more noise and the process that the VUDU uses to ignore this noise makes the remote look like it is having issues.

Originally posted by redwein View PostNow, going back to the original issue with the scrolling on the remote. I would say that I experience this periodically on all 5 of my remotes. Last night, in fact, in the middle of scrolling, it just started becoming non-responsive. The other buttons kind of worked, but they were "iffy" too. I tested the batteries even though they were new and they were good. I eventually got where I was going and was just relieved. One time, my son turned on a wireless transmitter for his VeXplorer robot and that completely stopped my remote from working. As soon as he turned it off, it came back to "normal".
4 of the 5 remotes are in my house and set to different frequencies. The other is in my dad's house. I have set them all to high sensitivity to try to fix it but that has made absolutely no difference . . .
Oh . . . and John, I never heard of anyone being called a "flipping idiot" and still be congratulated for doing a good job. Sounds like you're doing alright over there!

I can even begin to tell you how many horrible experinces I've had with other companies who give you the run around, won't actually let you talk to a person, or won't respond in a timely manner to email, if at all.
