    WOW! Just wow...

I watched my first streamed HD movie tonight on Vudu. Transformers.

The movie itself was pretty awesome but the entire experience was top notch.

Instant streaming of an HD movie is HUGE! THIS is what I bought the box for. And tonight Vudu delivered.

I think we've got a hit on our hands.

I totally agree Vudu has outdone themselves once again with the addition of HD content. Great work guys! Keep the SD and HD content coming.

Well someone out there doesn't agree with us.....

      http://gizmodo.com/352392/vudu-test-...eds-to-be-done

"In fact, it was awfully hard to see a vivid difference between that and the perfectly fine (and $2 cheaper) SD download."

Maybe someone at VUDU can help fight this by providing us with resolution specifications and/or screenshots to refute their claims?

I know the HD movies that *I've* watched on VUDU are noticeably better quality than the SD movies.

And that person must be blind. Although to be fair I compared the VUDU HD version to the SD DVD and HD DVD. Not to the VUDU SD version. But compared to the Sd DVD version the difference was easy to spot. There was no way to confuse the VUDU HD version with the SD DVD version.

Aaron - I think you mentioned it in the other thread but the folks as gizmodo are missing the point. The SD version of Transformers and WAY better than the SD DVD. So the gap between the Vudu SD and HD versions is not huge but it is still VERY apparent. I think his equipment and/or test was flawed.

I watched the HD version of Transformers and was blown away! It was VERY clear and beautiful!

Maybe he got the movie wrong and was watching "Transmorphers."

LOL - has anyone actually watched that yet? I nearly reported it as a metadata bug....

I have that on my wishlist. I'll watch it this weekend if I get a chance.

I guess I'll need to look at the VUDU SD version to really do a true comparison. I looked at the SD DVD version as well as the HD DVD version. The SD DVD version didn't come close to the VUDU HD version.

                    Re: WOW! Just wow...

I just rented the VUDU Sd and HD version. I have no idea what the person at Gizmodo watched. IN the opening scene when they are in the OSPREY and right before when showing the desert as the backdrop, it is very, obvious which is the SD version and which is the HD version. The HD version has much more detail than the SD version. You cannot mistake the two. It's not possible. Now the HD DVD has even more detail, but as I said earlier the VUDU movies are going to be below the HD DVD/BD versions and that is expected.
I'll watch some more later tonight but I still don't know how anyone can say the HD version is close to the Sd version. The detail is not there in the SD version which is always the case with any SD DVD or SD content I've seen. The extra detail in the VUDU HD version is there to see.

Just to get a rise out of NA9D , I would really be interested if you could rent the real DVD and compare that (not the HD DVD) to the Vudu HD version.

If I understand him correctly, he claims there is no "technical" defintion for the term DVD quality. So I would really be happy if you could make "that" comparision and claim that it's "better than DVD quality".

Robert - how would you define "near DVD"??

How 'bout "My Vudu box sits right next to my DVD player" ?

Seriously, the more I talk about this topic, the more I appreciate its subtle complexity.

The HD VUDU version is easily better than the SD DVD version. I had looked at those a few days ago(along with the HD DVD version) but didn't look at very specific things like I did tonight between the VUDU SD and HD version and the Xbox Live HD version.
