    Feburary Poll-VUDU Movie Selection

Now that the VUDU has rolled out version 1.2 and there are 70+ HD titles in the library along with a total catalog right now of over 5000 titles it's time to see what everyone thinks about the titles available on the VUDU.

One rule on voting this time, if you just got your VUDU please don't vote until your database is up to date. The suggestion from VUDU of 36 hours is about right if you don't use the VUDU and just let it do updates. But I would suggest that you wait about 7 days before participating in this poll to make sure you have the most current content in the catalog on the VUDU.

I also ask that VUDU employees and the moderators refrain from voting in this poll.

Thanks and let the voting begin!

For you stats buffs here is the results of the previous polls:

In our last poll we had:

    Total Votes: 62
    4 stars - 8 (13%)
    3 stars - 25 (40%)
    2 stars - 22 (35%)
    1 star - 7 (11%)
    0 stars - 0 (0%)

In our first poll we had:

    Total Votes: 49
    5 stars - 0
    4 stars - 22 (45%)
    3 stars - 10 (20%)
    2 star - 12 (24%)
    1 star -5 (10%)
    43
4 Stars - I'm impressed and am hoping for a few more goodies
    20.93%
    9
3 Stars - It's good, and I'm convinced it's going to get better
    34.88%
    15
2 Stars - Not bad, but it has a way to go before I'm happy
    39.53%
    17
1 Star - Not yet what I expected
    2.33%
    1
No Stars - I want my money back
    2.33%
    1

    The poll is expired.

    Re: Feburary Poll-VUDU Movie Selection

    Just FYI...

I gave it 4 stars on the premise that I'm predominantly using it to watch new movies as they become available and I think that Vudu is doing a great job of adding new movies when available.

I do still think however that the library has some gaps (and let's face it - it will NEVER be perfect for everyone so take this with a grain of salt). It seems to be missing some fairly obvious movies from the last 20 years that were blockbuster hits.

      Re: Feburary Poll-VUDU Movie Selection

I voted 3 this time (2 last time), but in reality it was closer to 2.5 out of 4 (or 3 out of 5). Perhaps this is affected by the fact that in our last session we couldn't find 3 movies: Entrapment, The Heist, and K-911. Does Vudu have anything against heist movies, lol?

I'm back to 4. I noticed that my wife is starting to build quite a wish list too.

I've got the same issue - my wish list is growing everyday. I think it would be great if they added filters to the wishlist just like they have in the normal library.

I voted 3 stars, but wanted to add a little. I am VERY pleased with the HD selection. I mean, I know we all want more titles, but if you have to be limited to 70-80 titles, whoever was picking should get a raise.

I don't know if I'd go that far, lol. Vudu satisfied Trekkies by putting out some movies in HD, but now they need to appease Star Wars and LOTR fans

                Re: Feburary Poll-VUDU Movie Selection

I voted the 1. I still think that there is a long way to go before the movie selection becomes "good."

Don't get me wrong--I like my Vudu--more for the future of Vudu I am expecting than the product today, however.

Perhaps it's coincidental, but I feel like most movies I want to watch are not available on Vudu...those that are seem to be purchase only (for the most part). I understand that these things are studio driven, but it is frustrating, none-the-less.

I'd be interested in seeing a list of the movies you are looking for. I looked in the Movie Request Forum, http://forum.vudu.com/forumdisplay.php?f=60 , and you've never posted anything there. Would you mind posting something there?

                    Re: Feburary Poll-VUDU Movie Selection

I've moved Glassjoes list of requests (mostly looking for rental options on some purchase only titles) to a new thread in Movie Requests - http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php?t=2515 .

Please build upon that. If you don't tell Vudu what you're looking for, you can't hope to get it someday.

                      Re: Feburary Poll-VUDU Movie Selection

I voted 4 stars. There is a very good mix of titles to choose from. Of course there could always be more, but that will always be the case with any VOD service.
And I see they are up to 5025 titles when listing all Genres.
My one suggestion would be an animation category.

I'm shocked to say, but I voted 4 stars.
I've watched a lot of movies and TV shows so far this month (14).
I've got a ton of stuff in my wishlist. While not every new release is available, there are still tons of newer releases that I haven't seen.

I finally realized I'd actually really miss vudu if I didn't have it.

And I would encourage people to rent Warner Brothers titles when they become available - which is on the release date. Warner Brothers is taking the "risk" to allow rentals the same day as purchases. They should be rewarded for this!

Just took an inventory of the Movie Database and found the following:

                            5111 Movies Total Available
                            3676 Have Rental Options
                            4114 Have Purchase Options
Over 100 HD Titles in the Catalog

And I just noticed last night that "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is available in HD now. This is a movie from the early 60s! I doubt it will ever be out on BluRay (definitely won't be out on HD-DVD! ). Anyhow, I've not thought about watching it until now seeing it's in HD. Watched the preview and it looks like a genuine 60s party movie.
