Vudu and You Tube audio problems

    Vudu and You Tube.

I made this post last night, and for the life of me I cannot find it, or a way to view my own posts. The Search function reports an error on page; so if I am being repetitive, please understand.

When comparing the HD quality of Vudu vs. Computer, the audio is just retched. Test if you like, a classic like:

Time To Say Goodbye Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman in HD

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR7E_JRzdKw&fmt=22

And then bring up the exact same video on Vudu Labs You Tube. Be sure to compare the same file, as there are many and you have to scroll down a bit.

First, the intro is cut off and second the audio is screeching. Clearly there is something wrong with the interface. The video quality is not bad, but the audio is horrid.

    Any thoughts?

It's in the "Things you don't like" forum. I saw it there. You probably forgot you put that thread there.

Anyhow, I've never had an issue with Audio on You Tube from Vudu. But I don't really watch all that much You Tube and when I do it's generally on my Tivo because I'm looking for something that is related to a TV show I'm interested in, etc. But in general I've found the YouTube interface in Vudu to be pretty good. I have seen audio issues after leaving Vudu labs. You might want to try rebooting the box and then go back into YouTube to see if that helps things any - it may.

Thanks, but perhaps I was not clear. I am doing a direct comparison between the You Tube computer experience and Vudu's implementation. There is no residual effect from Vudu Labs.

No, perhaps I was not clear.

There have been audio problems that some people have had with Vudu labs. Since YouTube is played w/in Vudu labs, it might be the source of your audio problems. Please follow the steps I suggested and see if they are still there.

I personally, have not had a problem with the YouTube audio on Vudu. I'm not denying there may be a problem, but I just asked you to do a couple of simple steps to be sure that what you are experiencing is an implementation problem and not something else.

I know a recent firmware push corrected some issues with youtube, but I think there are still a few gremlins in that area of vudu labs. The few times I've had issues with my vudu, it has been during or just after watching youtube. Once, my vudu just froze in the middle of a youtube video. Another time, I turned my vudu back on a few hours after watching youtube on it and found I had no video output to my tv. Both situations were corrected after a reboot.

It is a fun feature but I've gone back to watching youtube on my laptop.

You may want to open a support case on the problems you are seeing with youtube under VUDULabs. So that the VUDU engineers can look into it. Here is the link:

thanks. I did contact support via email (support@vudu.com) after each incident but they didn't create any cases since I was able to reboot and get things going again.
