That leaves us with one big hole in our "total entertainment" portfolio: VUDU on Android. We have three Android devices in our house: two smartphones and one ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet. The hardware is more than capable of streaming HD video, but as of yet, VUDU does not support the Android platform.

Is there any way to submit an official feature request to support Android in the near future? I'll spare you the charts and graphs of market penetration for Android. Suffice to say, there's a significant and growing market for high quality streaming video for Android tablets. It would be very cool if one of the best streaming content providers (VUDU) jumped on board earlier rather than later.

    Dave,

I would be happy to pass on your feature request to our team.

        Dan:

This thread dates back to 2009. This feature has been requested and re-requested multiple times over the past 2 years? How much longer until this longstanding request becomes an actual reality?

Re: Feature request: VUDU app for Android

I'm also on board with the request for an Android app. It is baffling how many companies continue to miss the mark even now to provide apps for Android, only concentrating on iOS instead especially given the marked spiral in Android users and market share. Seems a complete disconnect especially in this case where while Vudu has no apps they have at least put in place iPad browser access... what gives that the same can't be done for Android? It's time to step up and with the resources of your parent company I just don't get it re: the inability to even provide a substantive response if this is even under consideration let alone an app actually being developed, etc. As a Vudu user for years before Walmart came into the picture I will note I've seen a lot of progress since the purchase but it's time to step up across the board for all your users and not just some.

I cant agree more with these comments i bought one movie on vudu and loved the experience but I refuse to buy more because i cant take it with me on my android device. You are losing a huge piece of potential business by losing android users.

Re: Feature request: VUDU app for Android

I registered on the forums just to post this.

                Vudu: please support Android (soon).

While my household has multiple Android phones and multiple Android tablets, I'd rather focus on Google TV running Android.

The new update to support Market apps on Google TV is rolling out to users beginning tomorrow. With the Logitech Revue with Google TV only costing $99, a lot of users will be excited to try the new apps and consume both free and paid online video content.

With my Revue I can watch Netflix, stream Amazon Video on Demand, rent full length films through YouTube, view UltraViolet content via the Flixter app, HBO Go, and much more. But none of those feature 1080p, Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound like Vudu HDX. I implore you: release an Android app for Google TV that supports unadulterated Vudu HDX.

                  Hey, look...

Vizio is announcing some new TVs with Google TV built in and the remote control has a dedicated Vudu button - http://goo.gl/LNfgJ

When can we get an official comment on Google TV support from Vudu?

                      Sure hoping that this happens!!!
Also Vudu , some Canadian friends would sign up in a heartbeat if
you extended services to them! Netflix has let them down, with
far less selection than what we have in the U.S.

Re: Feature request: VUDU app for Android

I too hope it happens. More and more devices are coming out with Android installed (including set top boxes, tablets, and portable media players), and having Vudu supporting Android would be very worthwhile. Heck, Crackle, Hulu, Netflix, and even Pandora support it.

Bumping this. Since I dislike almost anything beginning with the letter 'i' or anything Apple makes, it would be delightful to have the ability to watch Vudu on my Android phone or tablet, or on a set top box running Android (there are quite a few). Netflix, Epix, and Crackle do this (as do a lot of others), why not Vudu?

I use Vudu. I have a Tablet that can handle HDX streams. I will leave Vudu and actively discourage it use in the Android forums if an Android ICS Vudu app is not forthcoming soon. Many of us have Android tablets and are vexed by your failure to support the platform. Android devices are soon surpassing iPad sales.

Probably just me being an old paranoid conspiracy theorist, but I'm beginning to think at least one reason vudu isn't moving to introduce an Android app is due in large part to it's reliance n Apples brand name reliance.
I'd imagine that there are certain insider arrangements/agreements that preclude vudu releasing an Android app if they want to keep Apple. Otherwise, Apple may decide to drop vudu for someone else.
                              Just a thought.

I might have missed a memo, but what does vudu have to do with Apple? I was unaware there was a relationship there.
