It's only a matter of time befor vudu goes under

With the very limited number of VUDU boxes available at Best Buy and very limited interactive HDTV and Blu-ray players that provide the VUDU service is it only a matter of time before this company goes under?

Their claim to fame, the HDX format, is becoming more and more rare on new movie releases.

At least with VUDU through "smart" HDTV and Blu-ray players you're not dead in the water if VUDU does go under. The HDX technology will either be sold or someone else will pick up on a equivalent format so that you can still get near blu-ray quality on your TV or disc player eventually.

I've been hearing this for a long time, yet they keep going strong. Maybe the streaming/VOD businesses is healthier than people think? Also, I'm not sure why you'd say new content isn't being encoded in HDX. This is not my observation.

Please tell me where I said the new content isn't being encoded in HDX?

I've noticed movies that were at one time available in HDX are no longer and fewer new releases are available in HDX.

That is exactly why i got the LG 390 and keeping the old BX100.

Imagine the shock when you look on a 200" projection screen and
end up seeing tiny fibers on actors clothing vibrating with the draft
while the Paradigm Reference 7.1 fed DD+ through separates just
fooled you that something was rapidly advancin toward you from
        the back wall.

What a shame that you don't have to go to the movies, no i take
that back, shame that you have to walk out of movie theaters
because your spoiled and lazy occipital cortex forgot to compensate for the
scratched up picture, and you find the compressed boomy 150dB
blasting through the corner plywood-mounted Cerwin-Wegas offensive.

OMG, imagine more plebeians like us getting our hands on the tech
xxxx, next thing we'll have an A/V revolution. With the
current economy we cannot allow this to happen, after all entertainment
is all we got left, this is exactly why Vudo gotta go!

        LOL LOL LOL ....

I think that has more to do with what the studios will allow rather than what vudu dictates.

I have the stb for my HD upstairs. I purchased an HD for my basement rec room recently and will probably get the LG blu ray player with vudu.

I have not seen this trend with new titles. They have an HDX version available when I look for them.

Or are you talking the time period that some of the studios impose for a few weeks after the DVD release where it is not available in HD/HDX. On VUDU and other VOD sources.

                Yes. And I stand corrected.
