it seems to be getting worse ( less rentals)

    it seems to be getting worse ( less rentals)

    I im finding some thing of a distrubing trend and it is a first for VUDU.. one of the reasons we have VUDU was that we could rent HDX movies WHich we LOVE on our 2.35 :1 10 ft screen and we would almost always prefer renting the HDX version and only fater we rented somethnig a coupld of times might we buy the blueray.

    my family even seemed to prefer its HD over the VOD on cable, and my collection of Blue rays and DVDs in may carrosels ( I have 365 dvds and 1010 blue rays). we always had 3-5 movies cued up to wtach a month.

    NOW there are very little rentals available

    we recenly did a genre search for "Comedy" and nearly every movie was only for sale with NO rental options.. Com on VUDU what gives?, ( we read the sticky note , but some thing more is at work here) we love renting HDX movies and more and more are going to sale only which makes it not worth using. I can always get netflix and or use my amazon account and go lower res ( I really dont want todo that) , but I can always purchase the blue ray for half what you are charging and just add it to my collection. I dont trust the hard drive to store HDX titles so renting has always been the key for us . Bring back more Rentals!!!! other wise we'll be faced to switch to HULU ( free or paid), Netflix, block buster or Amazon, or the new HD extreme. we really like VUDU , but if you make it cost prohibative and not very comepetative. you will loose folks.

    Have you tried bringing up the filters and selecting "Available to Rent" to see only the rentals?

    All new releases become available to rent on VUDU, either the same day as the DVD release or -- depending on the studio -- within 2-4 weeks of the DVD release.

    Recently released Comedies include movies such as The Maid, Youth in Revolt, When in Rome and Crazy on the Outside.

    Is there a specific movie that you think is missing on VUDU?

      Hi I'll go into the comedy filter and see if I 'll try and see if I can show you a list of what I am talking about. I not sure if there is a " migration path" prcing midel you are now using where things start off as rentals for some amount of time and then shift to buy only but we went into comedies and it seem that all comedies after about 6 months were shifting to "buy" only which is frustrating, expecially for HDX as we prefer the format on our 9 ft 2.35 : 1 screen... we like to rent them instead of buy them becasue we go some time before watching the same movie again but we do have and like to wacth repreats ( typically a movie that is 1-3 years old) . I have very large DVD ( 390) and Blue ray collection ( over 100) so buying on the hard drive is not a real winner for us. if we find we are typically renting a movie to watch more than twice i'll buy it on blue ray a by that time it is usually at a siginificant discount on many web sites or I'll wait till it is less than $12 at best buy , so your pricing model of going "buy" only at $22 - $29 a movie for slightly older titles ( 8 months to a year) doesnt work well.. we would rather go HDX on rental up to thepoint of renting a particaular movie 3-4 time before purchasing it in a tangable format ( like blue ray). I would recoemmend if the HD or HDX version existied when you first provided it, then keep up that option and you will reap much more profit by on demand viewer like us. THanks!! ( we still love vudu just would like the options back)
