    HD and HDX streaming problems

I have a 20 Mbps down internet connection with time warner. Speed tests via public servers all over the country just about always return 15 to 20 Mbps all hours of the day.

However, Vudu's is very erratic. I may get 3 Mbps one test, 5 Mbps another. Best I can ever pull down is 11 Mbps. It doesn't matter what time of day it is. I should be seeing more consistent results closer to my 20 Mbps max.

I have a client with a 100 Mbps connection. Best I can ever pull from the vudu speed test is 6 Mbps. Public speed tests vary from 30 Mbps to 95 Mbps from their site.

So where's the bottleneck. Something's not right somewhere and it's not my ISP.

That makes two of us. I have had the same issues and it not my ISP.

The internet is made up of a lot routes to get from the VUDU streaming location to your house. Any one of these can be the "weakest" link in the stream causing the loss of bandwidth. Have you given customer support a call? They may be able to help isolate this issue. The number is:

Seems like on the Fri/Sat evening Vudu can't keep up at my house either. I have fibre in my house with a 40mb+ connection all the time dedicated to just the net. Bottom line is I see it too.

Re: HD and HDX streaming problems

Hi -- I'm a fairly new Vudu user and brand new to this forum. I'm a big fan of Vudu -- the video and audio quality is great, and with my 25MBps+ internet connection, I didn't think I'd have anything to worry about. However, this past weekend, I too experienced unpredictable buffering behavior on HDX movies. First was Thursday night, where I had to drop from HDX to HD (and was occasionally told that HD was a problem). And last night (Sunday), I started with HD to avoid the problem and was twice encouraged to try SD . This is on a Samsung Blu-Ray player on a wired Ethernet connection.

It seems to me that the service is occasionally overloaded... is that what others are experiencing?

See my post in the thread about the "CURL error" about DNS server settings in the router. I experienced this problem as well with my Samsung Bluray player when it wasn't giving me the other error. Again, it's worth a try.
