    You are not addressing what I believe is a key point, the Roku hardware is very inexpensive and processing power limited, this is necessary to keep the price low. Vudu requires greater processing power than the lesser quality streaming services, not all 1080p is the same, bitrates are greater, audio codecs used requiring different processing abilities. I simply don't believe the Roku can handle Vudu, further support for this it is a very popular box, I believe maybe the biggest seller or second biggest seller among the streaming boxes, and yet we haven't seen it. What other reason could there be?

    I use Google TV because I like it much better than the other streaming boxes, it also doesn't have Vudu yet but since hardware is the same or very close to Boxee, I believe there is no Vudu on Google TV for other reasons. I use a PS3 or LG BD390 for Vudu.

    I joined this forum just to add my voice to the rest crying out for Vudu to support Roku. Like others have indicated in this forum, I too rent movies from Amazon to play on one of my three Roku boxes. I would much prefer to rent from Vudu since many more titles are available in surround sound and streams include 1080p. Vudu also has a larger library of titles from which to choose.     Count me in as a vote for VUDU addition to Roku.

    As for "power" issues on the ROku boxes, that does not stop SD from being added until HD can be perfected. I'll take what I can get at this point.

    Adding Vudu to Roku would be a HUGE plus.

    Maybe it is coming though, I have heard of Walmart ads that show Roku boxes on sale in July and they show the Vudu logo on them.

    FINE Offer something at least SD! More streaming competition is better.

    There's a difference between "limited to" and "recommended" numbers. Peak bitrates up to 15mbps are possible on the Roku 2, and lots of people sustain bitrates of 9Mb/s. http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php...=50123#p340677

    Just a guess but I think Google TV has Flixster, Roku has Amazon Instant Video, Boxee has VUDU and Apple TV has itunes. I believe maybe their could only be one new movie streaming app for each device, perhaps it's a contract they have with the company.

    I currently own a Logitech Revue with Google TV for Flixster app and internet use and an XBOX 360 for online gaming, Netflix and VUDU use.


    It would be great to have VUDU on your Roku but If you all want to have VUDU now their are other options to get VUDU, just sayin. =)

    I heard Xbox 360 is coming out cheap pretty soon, but the only thing is I think you have to have gold membership to view VUDU, or I could be wrong.

    Yep. I hope Vudu also makes an app for Google TV. I'm hoping to get either one of these devices soon so I can stream my videos from Vudu in the comfort of my home.

    Vudu isn't doing anything wrong if the Roku processing can't handle Vudu HDX. Not sure if you have compared Vudu HDX to anything the Roku box can handle but there is no comparison, Vudu HDX is much better and requires handling much more data. The fact Vudu can offer such high quality at around 5Mbps average is amazing to me but it does require more processing power than Hulu+ or Netflix. If you are a Roku user, ask Roku why there box doesn't cover the best quality internet streaming. If you are saying everything should be dumbed down to a level Roku can handle because it is a very popular box, I wouldn't agree.

    I am NOT going to purchase a separate player to watch Vudu movies in HD!

    Seriously, Roku support is the only thing that will get me spending any money on Vudu service. Otherwise it is a waste of my time with so many other options available.

    I just signed up today, haven't even watched a movie yet, and I'm already extremely disappointed that I bothered!
