To those who say the Roku devices can't handle Vudu's highest bitrates I say who cares. I really don't understand this argument. Even if we accept this statement as fact why should it make a bit of difference? Vudu limits it's steams to SD on computers and tablets so I don't see how anyone could make a valid argument blaming Roku hardware limitations for not developing an app for it. My living room TV is 1080p but my three other TVs are all 720p and I'd like to be able to watch Vudu on all of them.
I currently access Vudu on my PS3 and LG Blu-ray player but I would much prefer to use the service through Roku. As it stands, I only use Vudu to get 99 cent specials, otherwise I rent from Amazon on Roku. It just amazes me that Vudu won't put an app on the most popular internet streaming device in this country. Come on, Vudu, please bring an app to Roku.
I use Google TV because I like it much better than the other streaming boxes, it also doesn't have Vudu yet but since hardware is the same or very close to Boxee, I believe there is no Vudu on Google TV for other reasons. I use a PS3 or LG BD390 for Vudu.

Maybe they arent even considering it with the other boxes that are coming out supporting it. BlueRay players etc.

Re: VUDU on the Roku Player
Count me in as a vote for VUDU addition to Roku.
As for "power" issues on the ROku boxes, that does not stop SD from being added until HD can be perfected. I'll take what I can get at this point.
Adding Vudu to Roku would be a HUGE plus.
Maybe it is coming though, I have heard of Walmart ads that show Roku boxes on sale in July and they show the Vudu logo on them.

You keep blowing that horn that it cant do the highest quality.
FINE Offer something at least SD! More streaming competition is better.
Originally posted by aaronwt View Post3 bar HDX is around 9Mb/s. Netflix, Hulu+ and amazon are using at most around half that bandwidth. Plus amazon and Hulu+ streaming only has 720P as the max for their streaming content which has an even lower bitrate.
EDIT: Netflix 1080P HD content uses a 4.8Mb/s rate. A little more than half the 3 bar HDX bit rate and just slightly faster than the 1 bar HDX 4.5 Mb/s bitrate.
The Roku2 is supposedly limted to around an 8Mb/s bitrate for the streaming MPEG4 content. So if they did offer VUDU it wouldn't be able to work with three bar HDX. And there is a very noticeable difference between 2 bar and 3 bar HDX. And a huge difference betwen 3 bar and 1 bar HDX.

Re: VUDU on the Roku Player
Just a guess but I think Google TV has Flixster, Roku has Amazon Instant Video, Boxee has VUDU and Apple TV has itunes. I believe maybe their could only be one new movie streaming app for each device, perhaps it's a contract they have with the company.
I currently own a Logitech Revue with Google TV for Flixster app and internet use and an XBOX 360 for online gaming, Netflix and VUDU use.
It would be great to have VUDU on your Roku but If you all want to have VUDU now their are other options to get VUDU, just sayin. =)
I heard Xbox 360 is coming out cheap pretty soon, but the only thing is I think you have to have gold membership to view VUDU, or I could be wrong.

Unfortunately the Disc to Digital may be the only reason I end up using VUDU. I would love to rent some movies but I'm not watching them on my laptop (nor do I want to tether my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable). That is why I bought the Roku. Please Walmart/VUDU make us Roku owners happy and add a Roku channel...

Add one vote but I doubt anyone from the company reads this anyway. It is basically user to user support. Companies put in forums for free user to user support.

Seriously, Roku support is the only thing that will get me spending any money on Vudu service. Otherwise it is a waste of my time with so many other options available.
I just signed up today, haven't even watched a movie yet, and I'm already extremely disappointed that I bothered!
