Does that qualify as dongle abuse?

Don't let that dongle bother you, you should have had to suffer through some of the prototype remotes we had to use during the apha-tester phase.

Actually, depending on the format of the masters that Vudu gets and how much processing power is required, maybe future boxes could incorporate an H.264 encoding chip (don't know if current one is optimized) and our Vudu boxes could help with encoding since they are sitting idle anyway. But then you have to factor in bandwidth costs, so it may turn out that it's cheaper for Vudu to do this on their own.

I'll be glad to do all the encoding for VUDU as long as I get to set the bit rates!!

I turned that into a feature request a while back. Since the VUDU's are idle why not get involved with "GRID" computing. Give something back to the community while watchin movies....

                  NA9D,

You mentioned serveral times here that it rains where you live.

                  But you didn't mention earthquakes!!

Hope all is safe and well there.

                  Regards

Actually, the New Madrid fault down in Missouri where all this originates from is larger than the San Andreas fault in CA. It's just deep underground. Experts say there will be a massive quake here in the next 100 years or so. And the bedrock is all really hard rock like granite and so the quake propagates a long ways as can be seen from this one - it was felt 450 miles away.

I didn't feel it. My 2 year old woke up at 4:30 this morning and after reading about when the quake happened I think she felt it and woke up. Of course, you wake me up at that time of the morning and I won't get back to sleep as it's in completely the wrong part of my sleep cycle. So I'm two hours short on shut eye today!

It was nothing up here where I live in Illinois I am only a few miles from Jon. We had one back about 5 or 7 years ago also. I didn't wake up but I had a bad dream last night...none of my kids work up either.

I did feel the Lake Erie quake in 1986. Was in Detroit working at the time.

Glad to hear it wasn't the disaster they were portraying on the news this morning.

I had the unfortunate luck of living in Portland OR when Mt. St. Helens blew. And then the San Francisco Bay Area when the last big earthquake brought down part of the Bay Bridge.

Neither were what I would call disasters, but very inconvenient with a large economic impact to the area.
