Re: Cant find vudu on my bluray

I bought yesterday a Sony BDV-T58 from CostCo to receive Vudu 1080p, I set it up today but no Vudu service on it. I can't see the icon too. The box shows that it has Vudu enabled. And I did the update. What is the problem? Is it my connection speed? Mine is always > 13 Mbps.

As Aaronwt said; Have you tried updating the firmware for the player?

If you do not see the VUDU icon it means that your Sony software did not enable the VUDU service. We cannot do anything about that. This has nothing to do with your connection speed.

Did you check with Sony customer care?

If the icon is not there, you might also have to search various apps that are available on the player. Most players have an option where they offer different aps, some for a fee and others free (VuDu should be free).

Though I'm not familiar with this particular player, it might have a box or area that says something like "Sony Apps", with different categories. Maybe under HOME, then VIDEOS, then look for VuDu. My Samsung D6700, for example, does not have Blockbuster loaded. But it is a selection in the APPS section (under VIDEOS. BVut Sony might have it under something else ). There, I can select it (or Vudu) and it would then need to be downloaded. Also, as others have noted, make sure the player is updated. If you still can't find it, and Sony Tech services can't help, then it's best to trade it in for a different model.

Re: Cant find vudu on my bluray

Vudu customer service advised me with the same: it's a Sony issue.
I called Sony and got a person who doesn't even know that they support Vudu in their 2011 models. The same for CinemaNow which is showing on the Sony box. I'm going to try the Gracenote support at Sony maybe the know better today.
I wonder if this is related to the Sony online PS3 and Gracenote outage that has been going on since Wednesday.

Re: Cant find vudu on my bluray

I called Sony and now have a case number.
They escalated me to their "highest level of support", if I heard it right.
I was told that they've been getting this cases where customers are not seeing the VUDU and CinemaNow "video links" as they call them. They said that these links are stored/configured on their servers and not built into the firmware, which is cool (centralized, updated remotely without a firmware upgrade). They are looking into the issue. They don't know the problem yet and their engineers are currently busy with the PS3 and Qriocity incidents. They advised me to check on the video links towards the end of the week. There's nothing wrong with my device.

So I'll just put this issue on the back burner for few days.

PS. Please refrain from adding useless posts to the thread. If you do not have firm educated information to post, be patient and keep it clean. This issue is about Sony Blu-Ray internet video channel devices only. It's very unlikely that any other context would apply here

This may not be acurate, but the issue is suspected to involve Sony devices with 80 or 8 at the end (2011 models): 280, 380, 480, 580, 780, and T58. (there may be other T models which should end with 8)

Re: Cant find vudu on my bluray

I have the same problem on the bdp-s580. It seems not able to update the "apps" from sony's cloud. I've had this problem since the beginning of the month, before the playstation/qriocity went down. It would be nice to find someway to reset the player, perhaps there is a service menu hidden.. unplugging for hours didn't help.

Re: Cant find vudu on my bluray

Per Sony, they resolved this issue in their server config. All S580 should have VUDU enabled.
