Well should have paid more attention to what 1080p was being sent at---24--when I hit "Display all resolutions" 1080p came up but didn't say 1080p 24Hz so I hit what was listed just as 1080p, and it is a black screen and appears that won't revert back. If anyone has been to the "Dark side" and back help would be great Thanks

You may want to hook up a composite or component connection and see if you can set it back while connected to these.
If that doesn't work then you'll have to contact Vudu support:

Re: 1080p
It didn't revert back as the PS3 did when I tried 1080p 24Hz for the hell of it. But I got it back by disconnecting the power for 5 minutes, after it booted it reverted back to 1080i. It doesn't say it on the resolution screen options (1080p 24Hz) but it does on the Vudu box. All's well again

Re: 1080p
They need to correct the display resolution options so it says 1080P24. Then there won't be any confusion. Most people see 1080P and think of 1080P60.
I know with mine, as long as i didn't hit any buttons after changing the resolution, it would revert back to the previous resolution.

The VUDU engineers want to look into this, they need your VUDU box system id. If you go to the info & settings menu and then system information it will be listed there. Its also on a sticker on your box.
The format is 0xXXXX...if you could post it here.
Thanks

Re: 1080p
You don't need to reboot to go back to the preferred resolution (in windtreker's case 1080i). Just toggling the 480p/i switch in the back will do the job.
We should revert back after ~20 seconds. Could it be that you played around with the remote control while waiting? If you turned the wheel and clicked on it you would have accepted the new setting.

Can you please check if falling back to the previous display format works for you in general?
Please try :
(1) Switch to 720p and do not confirm, are we falling back to 1080i?
(2) Repeat the test with 1080p, is the problem reproducable?
After you performed the test please let me know the results.

Now I'm beginning to see NA9D's point about water affecting the ability to watch Directv!!

After I set it to 1080p my screen displays "incompatible signal". Then goes blank for about 20 seconds. Then I get the setup screen again with the video resolution set back 1080i.
So I can verify it works as advertised with my VUDU box.
Maybe his tv is unable to reset on it's own after getting an incompatible signal??

Re: 1080p
Just out of curiosity, what do you need to push for confirmation? If it is a single button push (like the scroll wheel or the Vudu button), it would be easy to see someone doing that to try to "undo" their selection. They would never know they did it because they wouldn't have seen anything on the screen.
The confirmation should require several actions. For a Windows computer, you either have to move the mouse or tab to the "Ok" button and then push it (or hit enter). You would be very unlikely to do that accidentally. With the limited buttons available on the Vudu remote, it woud be more challenging to really avoid accidental confirmation.
