Re: Discussion of off topic posts
I didn't know either until someone here mentioned it. Then I found that reaction video that was on the page that someone had linked with the trophy clip. I thought the reaction video was kind of funny, of course all this time I had absolutley no idea what was actually on the video, and like a dumbassOriginally posted by HeadHodge View PostWell I didn't know it was reference to some other video. So I guess that makes me the ignorant one here.
I'm not sure I want to go look for something more sinister than what I thought I saw on "Family" Guy. You've officially scared me now.
I had to find it and look at it. It was disturbing to me. Almost as much as the other video(like a dumbass again) I watched the decapitation
of a captured US citizen in the Middle East. It took me a while to recover from that and get the images out of my head.

Well see that's my point about freedom of discussion. I now have a new perspective on life from it. It appears to be even worse than imagined.Originally posted by redwein View PostTrust me. You really don't. I honestly believe it is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my whole life.

Well I didn't know it was reference to some other video. So I guess that makes me the ignorant one here.Originally posted by redwein View PostWell given that the title of the disgusting video was given and could be Googled for and shows up in Wikipedia, there is zero chance that that is not what is being referred to. So from that perspective, it isn't really open to interpretation.
I challenge you to find out more about it and come back and say how you think some people could find it artistic. Some things just aren't. Now that's not to say that I think it should be censored or anything. I strongly believe in the right to free speech. But then again, I have the right to say something is inappropriate in a particular setting and state my own opinions about those who make disgusting videos like that.

But most every thing is open to ones own interpretation. Some people call art pornography. And some people call pornography art. That's why I like the freedom to have discussions. Unless someone is so very biased about their own view of the world, usually the discussions leaves the participants with new perspectives to contemplate.
I found it interesting that a group a people were trying to ban Sponge Bob Square Pants because it supposedly brain washed little kids to be gay.
When the writer was confronted with this accusation, he said "come on, it's just simply a sponge in an aquatic playground."
Now Pee-Wee Herman's playhouse is an altogether different story.

Re: Discussion of off topic posts
Ok. So I now understand. You have no idea what the real origin of the idea for the Family Guy clip was. Fair enough. The reality is that it was based on something so horrific that anybody who tried to "figure it out" (which you would do if you didn't find the Family Guy clip particularly funny and thought some context might help) would have come across either the original video or a description of it. Either of which would have profoundly disturbed most people (hence the reaction videos).Originally posted by HeadHodge View PostI guess I'm not sure what your referring to.
But what I was referring to was a Stewie flashback that I watched in the latest episode fo Family Guy last Sunday on FOX primetime.
It was definitely part of a real Family Guy episode.
It didn't show anything explicit, just Stewie's and Brian's faces while they watched an internet video. They left it up to your imagination as to what they were watching.
I found it very funny because I have a wild imagination. My wife watched it with me too and she had a totally different interpretation. So as far I was concerned no harm done.
The weird thing I don't understand is that, because it is based on that original disgusting video, that had to be the point of the joke on Family Guy. If you found it funny and weren't aware of it, then I don't see how you could have really "got" the Family Guy thing.

The barfing clip was way more graphic in nature than this. But maybe people found it funnier because it didn't leave anything up to your imagination. Kinda like watching the 3 Stooges poke each other's eyes out.
Anyways I was just having some friendly banter with NA9D and the only reason I brought it up was because I had just seen it on FOX a few days before and I thought maybe he had as well.
You want to watch something really disturbing, just watch the episode of Friends with Danny Divto in it.
Anyways I apologize if it offended anyone, that was not my intent and I didn't realize it would cause such a commotion.

...I can't think of why anyone would want to start a discussion around it on this forum.
Well, I've let it go up until now, but I've cleaned up any type of bodily fluid you can think of and many you probably can't, unless you've done hospice care or other clinical care, and none of them faze me. The only thing that's ever disturbed me about any of it is seeing someone in pain or afraid. I thought the video was a little pathetic and somewhat amusing in its earnest desire to be shocking for the sake of being shocking, but that was outweighed by my curiosity about the practicalities of making it. Stuff like that has never affected my appetite in the least since I was a kid, so no, it wasn't anywhere close to causing me to be nauseated.
So I guess I did find it a little funny, since you did ask.
I'm ready to drop it now, as I don't really see it as that interesting, but I'm willing to discuss the infectious disease and other public health issues involved in clinical detail off-list if anyone else is actually up for it.
