    VUDU downloading

I purchased 3 TV shows today, and I was waiting for them to download and they each got about halfway complete. I then moved my VUDU to show it on a different TV when I noticed that the TV shows were downloading from scratch again. Does the VUDU not store content until it is 100% downloaded?? That seems a little strange to me.

Did you purchase them all at the same time? Normally the download is sequential (the box wouldn't download the 3 of them at the same time, just one after another) so I'm not sure I understand how they could all be at 50%!? (unless you purchased the next show right when the previous one hit the 50% mark)

      Re: VUDU downloading

They were not all downloading at once.. I was trying to get the most content downloaded of all the 3 TV episodes. So I went to each TV episode separately and watched them download. My question is does the VUDU box not store the content unless it is 100% downloaded?

It does store the content as it downloads it, not as it reaches 100%. It will also resume a download from the "last checkpointed point" in a download.

My biggest question is why were you waiting? You can watch whatever episode that you want while it is downloading. Just go to the episode you purchased and select "watch now."

No, the download did not pick up where it left off. It started from scratch again.

If it's really a new issue, you should get in touch with support, give them your box ID and they can look at what happened.

Well, this is what I am wondering.

If you rent show A, it will start downloading. But then if you rent show B, it will start and A will stop. Then if you rent show C, it will start and B will stop.

Now, if you unplug the box and let it boot up again, it's possible that show A will start up downloading. And since it's at effectively zero, it would look like it's starting over.

It would have been impossible for each show to get half way complete all at the same time. The only way that would have worked would be for you to wait for each one to get to the half way point before renting the next one.
