No 5.1 Audio? When this this happen?

Looking at some HDX movies I was about to purchase, I've started to notice that several big movies are being encoded in two channel stereo. A list of such titles is below:

    - Pan's Labyrinth
    - Batman Begins
    - Donnie Brasco
    - The Godfather
    - Goodfellas
    - Cop land
    - The Matrix

Seriously, The Matrix? This has been a go to title for home cinema demos for years.

How does this happen? I thought the whole point of Vudu was to raise the bar on quality for digital downloads? I looked at some new titles and there are still 5.1 encodes in there but the above list alone is very troubling.

What's the official word on this?

So, is this a new trend or are these glitches? It does looks like someone has been asleep lately on quality control.

      Hi Citizen Erased,

When the Matrix was first added to the service in 2009, surround sound was not yet made available to us for this particular title. We?ve reached out to the studio to have the surround sound audio delivered. We?ll respond with an update once notified.

I posted a similar thread in the D2D forum AFTER i converted 30 movies and tried to watch 300 and it sounded weird. Sure enough it was 2.0 stereo. There are quite a few movies like this even Lord of The Rings. Finding this out basically halted my conversions since half of them were only available in stereo which didnt make sense for action movies.

Also i think customer care and forum mods need to get on same page. The mods have been much more accommodating or understanding with their replies as opposed to the response i got after submitting a ticket.

Thank you for contacting Vudu customer care.
I researched those movies on our site and it appears as though those titles are only available in Stereo. If you go to the More Info tab on a movie page, you can see what Audio they are encoded in. These particular movies are only available in Stereo.
Please contact us again for any further questions or concerns.
        Best regards,
