    STREAM FROM MY NETWORK ????

Ok .. Here is the situation, I currently have about 700 DVD's and have spent the last 4 months ripping them to a NAS (4TB) server on my network. The software that I am using to rip them does so in an MPEG4 format. I then was trying to find a solution to get these movies to stream to my 52 inch HD in the bedroom. I tried all my current hardware... X-BOX 360 , That failed BAD with having to configure my media center PC and then use the X-BOX as an extender.. NOT even user friendly. I then tired TIVO HD .. It has home networking and can see my server, however you need to install the TIVO software onto a system on your network and drag the media folder that you want to stream to the TIVO to that software. This will work GREAT with photos but with my MPEG4 Movies that I now have on my server FORGET IT.. So I then preceded to check out APPLE TV from a friend and iTunes... WOW, if I run iTunes on a PC that is connected to my network and set iTunes to stream the movie folder from my server .. IT WORKS!!!! However I do NOT own APPLE TV YET... I was trying to NOT have to Buy one to watch my movies on my TV because it does the same things VUDU does with its ability to read off my network BEING HUGE FORM ME ... ..
That is why I am writing this ... CAN YOU GUYS.. I am talking to the VUDU devs now... Why can't you make the VUDU read my network? so that I can stream my movies with your hardware. I would much rather use your stuff then go get APPLE TV . Can't you make a section on the VUDU that allows you to see shared network drives (NAS) and allow me to stream my Mpeg4 movie files (All of them are around 2 GIGS each) to my TV? If you guys did this feature I WOULD LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!
Another thought I had was I am currently looking into Internet TV and thought that it would be SOOO awesome if you guys allowed us to stream internet programs to your BOX.. I could then shut off my Cable and use you guys to watch all my TV and movies and maybe you guys will build in some DVR functions and you would be KING .. You guys have an AWESOME device .. if you guys did that and encapsulated all these features .. Internet TV, Network streaming for movie MPEG4 Files and DVR along with your current features YOU WOULD BE THE ONLY DEVICE ANYONE WOULD NEED..
    Think about it

    Thanks for your time

Much requested features: stream video locally from other machines, and stream content directly from internet feeds.

No promises from VUDU on these, but I'm sure it's been kicked around. There is a feature request forum that you might want to post a summary of your request (or add to an existing request)!

I have about the same situation (~750 DVDs ripped to NAS servers). My NAS servers are Terastations and I use the Buffalo LinkTheater to play them on my TV. I know it isn't what you want (an integrated solution) but it's what I had before Vudu and it works for me. Since I got Vudu, I have added only a handful of DVDs to my owned collection. For the most part we watch movies on Vudu these days.

Using the 360 as a media center extender is the easiest way to do this. I've used it as a media center extender with HD content and had no problems although I've never tried it with any SD content.
I've been using various devices to view HD content over my Gigabit network since 2001. The 360 as a media extender has been the easiest solution

These have been much-requested features although playback of user's video is probably a lot easier to accomplish than Internet video (unless it's in the codec supported by VUDU's chipset).

However, I don't think this feature will be implement until there's external storage support (to store purchased movies/TV shows) -- THAT might be the #1 priority right now.
