    Indiana Jones Bundle on Vudu

    Just to let you know....

Raiders of the Lost Ark on Vudu (HDX) is widescreen during the credits, then it ZOOMS to FULL SCREEN.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on Vudu (HDX) is widescreen during the credits, then it ZOOMS to FULL SCREEN.

    This is unacceptable!

We want our movies in the original aspect ratio, not ZOOMED IN which crops out content from the frame on the left and right edges.

At least Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls are widescreen all the way.

Paramount needs to re-encode the first two Indiana Jones movies in WIDESCREEN.

I was NOT HAPPY when I saw the ZOOM/CROPPED presentations. I want a DISCOUNT!!!!

At least I can say the picture quality is excellent.

The Indiana Jones bundle is extremely expensive. For the price, I want the movies in original WIDESCREEN - not ZOOMED or CROPPED!

In case anyone is interested, Vudu has the Indiana Jones four-movie bundle on sale right now of $46.99 (about $11.75 per HDX file).

I just noticed your posting... I posted the same thing under the help section. Darn Wide zoom... give us the option since every tv in the last decade has the option!! Do you know they do the same thing on the Bluray collection discs? Sometimes aspect ratios are choices in the bluray menus... maybe it can be fixed via vudu.

I was going to buy that bundle until I saw his post. I decided to wait and see if this gets fixed. I prefer widescreen.

Since I haven't seen or heard anything about this I decided last week to order the Indiana Jones complete adventures on Blue Ray. Some movies are just meant to be watched through a home entertainment system! Perhaps this is also what George Lucas thinks and why we don't have Star Wars.

Don't get me wrong, I love having several of our movie collection in the cloud and having the ability to watch them on multiple devices anywhere. But the quality isn't as good as watching the movie directly on your Blue Ray.

Re: Indiana Jones Bundle on Vudu

The horrific ZOOM applies only to the first two Indy movies. The last two have the correct aspect ratio.

I do not blame Vudu for the ZOOMed presentation in the HDX files for Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom. I believe the encoded file was generated by Paramount and supplied to Vudu (but I could be mistaken about that).

To date, Vudu has not indicated that it will contact Paramount to obtain corrected files with the original widescreen aspect ratio intact. As a fan of such iconic films as the first two Indiana Jones adventures, it is essential that these movies be presented as produced by Lucas and Speilberg. They should not suddenly be ZOOMed after the widescreen credits are over.

I hope that EVENTUALLY the files will be replaced with corrected versions.

Has vudu ever fixed an issue like this? Have they ever replaced one stream for another?

Yeah, I thought this was annoying when I first saw it, too (especially how it shows the opening credits in OAR then switches to 16:9).

Still, the HDX version does look and sound great, been waiting to see this one come out in digital release for a while...

I filed this issue, though as usual it can take a while as they have to request the OAR source from the studio and re-encode.

Re: Indiana Jones Bundle on Vudu

I am also very annoyed with purchasing the Indiana Bundle. I started watching the credits in full screen as Lucas and Spielberg wanted us to see the movie and then the movie was formatted to fit the screen. What a JOKE. Can anyone imagining watching the "Lawrence of Arabia" or "It's a Mad Mad Mad World" in a formatted screen? I want my money back.

Call tech support. I got my money back on Forrest Gump for that exact reason.

Hi there jeffpn...did they refund you and also delete the movie from your library or did they allow the movie to remain in your collection?

I am annoyed by the fullscreen presentation for Raiders and Temple of Doom, but as Jake mentioned above, they still do look amazing in HDX -- just not presented as the director/Producer intended because of the zoom to fullscreen mode.

They did not let me keep the movie after they refunded my money.

I guess I got my answer on the aspect ratio problem.

I was so stoked to see these come back on Vudu to be able to buy. And seeing that they had left Vudu for a time, I thought great, we are going to get a new re-encode from Paramount. So I quickly picked them up last night when they became available.

Fired up the first movie, and sure enough the same thing. It zooms in right after the credits.
                        Such sadness.

Are the Indiana Jones films not going to be UV? It said they were being released in DigitalHD i assumed those were one and the same...

Yeah, luckily I used the 2 min preview feature to see that Raiders and Temple of Doom are cropped to 1.78:1 after the credits. For future reference, you can fast-forward past the 2 minute mark even if you don't own the movie. It just doesn't let you actually play past 2 minutes at normal speed. But that still allows you to determine if there are any aspect ratio issues with the movie.

                              Thanks Adam_Me for the response.

They are movies I wanted no mater what. Even if I had used the 2 minute preview, I would have still bought them. I wasn't going to take a chance of not having them in my library if they were ever pulled again.

Hopefully Paramount will get this fixed right away and I, and every one else will eventually get the right encode when they do.
