Kudos to VUDU for getting an app together that seamlessly connects with Ultraviolet, allows easy redemption of codes and has the very best disc to digital service available. Over the past two weeks I have converted almost my entire 500 disc collection to digital right from home using my P.C , DVD drive and BLU-RAY drive. Now that all of my titles are all digital and in the cloud I can only hope and pray that this really is the future of at home movie viewing.... otherwise I'm out a few hundred bucks.
First, I love the ability to see the trailer before i view something in my collection, see the actors and what other movies that they have played in and the reviews are great too..
The one huge improvement that I would greatly appreciate would be the ability to create my own categories for movies.. With so many movies on my list and 5 people in my household- we find ourselves scrolling for movies A LOT!! It would be nice to have my favorites/kids favorites etc.. Just like I have them on my shelf at home.
Additionally, my 9 year old is very upset that I have to enter in a password(since I use the parental controls on her player) to watch no rated movies ..like American Girl Doll. should have the option to override certain movies per my discretion. That would be a great fix.
Also, five devices per account are not enough.. I know Ultraviolet allows additional users- which I have created for the kids, but they only allow two VUDU accounts to be synced with Ultraviolet at once. An easy remedy for my household would be the use of at least two more players. We have 4 bedrooms and two family rooms that we would like to connect.
I would also like to see the ability to block actual titles with the parental controls. Sometimes a DVD cover itself is enough to frighten a small child when they are browsing movies... definitely when it comes to parental controls.. more is better. I would not mind having the ability to set time restrictions also... so that no one is watching movies late at night- Our DISH network box allows this- I feel like it would be an easy fix.
Overall- VUDU is an excellent APP and by far the most user friendly- I have tried both the super slow Flixster and Bestbuys CinemaNow- you guys blow them away. But, if you do want us to start moving our collections digital then I suggest the freedom to organize your movies and restrict them the same way that I can with my collection at home.
Thank you !
