    search movies w/out registering?

I just realized that you can't search the movie database unless you register? Doesn't that seem a bit hostile to new customers or people that are at least curious? I mean with the quantity of movies out there you would think the Vudu team would want to let everyone search, regardless of registration.

    just a suggestion....

I was kinda wondering the thinking behind that too.

Maybe to prevent automated querying of the database?

        That was my guess.

I have no problem with it. You can easily see the movies in the database and peruse it. However, to search for a specific movie or so forth, I think it's fine to require someone be a customer.

Database querying can create alot of load for the server and the network. So I can understand them wanting to limit it to those who are seriously interested in a VUDU box. Most forums these days don't even allow you to search them without registering either, so this isnt exactly a new practice. Personally, I have no problem with it, and if one is really seriously considering purchasing a vudu box, then I see no reason why one should be reluctant to register, but that's just my opinion.
