Official VUDU Labs Support and Discussion Thread

This thread is intended for discussion of the new 2.1 VUDU Labs features and the Rich Internet Application Platform. Any questions, suggestions or problems you have about YouTube, Flickr, Picasa, On-Demand TV or the RIA in general should be posted here.

Release Notes about the release can be found here: http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php?t=5517

Will the RIA platform be "open" to individuals, or is it something that requires a license agreement with Vudu? Let's say I wanted to write my own RIA applications, will I be able to collaborate with other Vudu owners and roll my own private application?

The intent is that individuals will be able to participate. As soon as I can speak to the details of the program I will.

Is there an intent to move AVN to your new interface? Just trying to understand how it works with 3rd party content.

Here's an additional detail that may be of interest: LUA is the language for the RIA platform apps.

If you have upgraded to 2.1 but do not see the VUDU Labs button, please disconnect your ethernet cable for 10 seconds and reconnect it. After a few moments, the VUDU Labs button should become visible.

I've never been able to get AVN. So I probably should try to figure that out first before I can clairify my question.

Enabling AVN on your Vudu is a multi-step process that begins on the website:

Step 1 - Go to www.vudu.com and select "My Vudu", "Account"
Step 2 - login to your Vudu web account
Step 3 - Select "Manage Box"
Step 4 - Choose the "edit" option to the left of your Vudu and click on the checkbox to enable AVN
                    Step 5 - Accept the Adult Content T's & C's by clicking "I Agree"
Step 6 - Click on "save settings"

                    Now go to your Vudu

Step 1 - Go to Info & Settings
Step 2 - Go to Parental Controls
Step 3 - Click on Adult Content Settings
Step 4 - From here you can enable the button, or simply go directly into AVN (password will be asked for if you have sent a password on system).

Maybe a better way to ask the question would be: Would you be able to provide paiy for view content with your interface. Let's say something like someone owns a Hedge Fund and wants to create an app that could provide daily investment advise for a fee or perhaps the ability to view a Vegas boxing event for a fee?

Gotcha. Honestly, I'm not sure about that though I''m sure we'll have an answer when we open it up.

Darn another scripting / programming language to learn. If its not C, shell, awk, perl, ruby, VBS, Javascript, and now LUA. Can't we just standardize on one language?
