When will Vudu implement a real search feature/engine?

When will Vudu implement a real search feature/engine? Currently if I search for "Kick ***" it does not find anything but if I search for "Kick-***" then it finds it. I mean come on. God forbid you have a typo/misspelled movie title, you are SOL. There is no soundex search capability, no search by actor, director, keyword

Also need capability of searching "My Vudu" instead of Vudu's entire inventory. So if I search for Scooby Doo, I only want to see the titles in My Vudu

Walmart/Vudu needs to buy the search engine used by IMDB if they do not have internal resource capable of building one.

EDIT: I see it replaced A$$ with *** in the post

I've noticed the same for years. I don't know why they don't implement what other sites have where it will bring up close matches. You have to type exactly the right words or it won't find it.

My guess is that the search interacts with the data in a way that is not conducive to near-miss reporting. Then again, the D2D search is far more encompassing with its auto-fill once you start typing.

Anyway, I agree it should be far more robust.

They won't even update their page so it can remember your password like most every site in the world can so I'm not surprised they haven't been able to implement what is essentially a basic search function in every database.
Plenty of other 101 currently failings like the offline app and apps like on xbox you can't even filter your collection (or change the amount you can view at a time.)

just change the equal sign to a like. Sixth grade stuff. Go figure.

I am baffled why the sorting available in my movie libary is not available on the next tab over in my TV libary. TV is stuck at purchase time.

This would just be a copy/paste of some code. Go figure again....

I agree! Soundex in addition to the scan that they currently do would be an easy feature to implement and is so much more powerful.

The other thing they need to fix is that if you are logged in and doing a search, it should show movies that they are currently not allowed to sale/rent if you own it. For example, if you don't own the movie 'Rope' and you search for it you will not find it. I do own it, and it doesn't even show up when I search for it. We have over 1200 movies and it's a real pain trying to find movies, this bug (yes, I call it a bug) makes their interface even more frustrating than it needs to be.

+100! That is super frustrating. I've actually started to use Flixster more in part because of this. They show titles whether or not they are showing any sites, including Vudu, currently having them for sale.

On a positive note though, it seems as though the Vudu web site is finally able to remember your password so you don't have to log in everytime! (still technically better to use a password manager and never have web sites remember but that is a different discussion).

Having to enter a password on a linked device isn't an issue since you NEVER have to do that. The issue with using their interface with Roku or a Blu-ray is that it takes too long to find the movie we're looking for. I think they did this because it was low hanging fruit...a very easy enhancement to make. We are still waiting for something much more substantial that will really set Vudu apart from their competition.

The issue noted in this primary post about search failings is not device centric. Their web site does not implement standard search rules correctly. Their backend search issues are just compounded on devices that implement search UI poorly.
Though to your comment, while device based passwords are saved, I've found on the Xbox One it is broken. It will almost always just say 'logging in' the first time I try to access the app. I have to open 4 other apps to essentially close it and then re-access it/re-log in for it to work.
